USAA Banking and Insurance —
I had great service from USAA when I was sending them payments every year...but then I needed them for a claim. My husband and I were camping and came home to a flooded sublevel and basement. USAA sent someone out the next day to dry out the home and it took me another two days to realize that our home, normally cool, was hitting 97 degrees during the day and 92 degrees at night. Our attic was exposed because the drywall was ripped out and therefore we had an extremely hot house. I called our adjuster only to receive her machine time and again. I asked if they could relocate us or get us a one room AC unit until the attic was closed up again. And, let me be clear, it would not be closed up for a while... Of course, I called all day and emailed twice. I never heard from our adjuster. Finally, I called the 1-800 number to talk with a supervisor who could not really give me an affirmative 'yes' or 'no' answer. I ended up going to Home Depot that night, buying it with my own money and installing it myself, seeing as my husband was away on a military trip. After another week or two I started sending my adjuster all of my receipts and I did not hear anything back. I called her voicemail and her message said "Hi you've reached Evelyn, I don't know when I'll be back in the office." Who the hell feels safe when their own adjuster doesn't know when they'll be back! About 8 weeks after the claim was made I was re-assigned to another adjuster who finally paid me for the claim. But, their recommended construction worker still has a lock box on my house. I don't know the code, so God forbid I have to make a theft claim. They can get into my house at anytime and they are not answering my messages either. To top it off, USAA increased my rates $700 a year. They are totally not worth the extra costs.
