Let me start off by saying our flight was only a 20 minute flight from Phoenix to Tucson on a US Airways flight. Doesn't sound as bad as doing a 2 hour drive. Our flight was supposed to leave Phoenix at 136 pm. Approximately 20 minutes before we were supposed to leave- when we were supposed to be boarding- is when the flight crew began doing the checks- keep in mind this plane had just come from Tucson- the boarding agent came over the intercome and stated that there was something wrong with the plane, while they did not know what exactly is wrong with it maintenance was working on it. As time went on they found our flight another plane and announced a gate change that was only one gate down from where we were already. We were about to board and the flight crew boarded to begin their preflight checklist yet again. The boarding agent came on again stating that there was a leak- not sure what kind of leak or how bad it was keep in mind this is yet another flight that had landed and the passengers had just deboarded the plane- they were patching the leak and we would not know if they patch was going to hold for at least an hour. I am not sure if it held or not I am thinking not because the boarding agent made yet another announcement stating they were working on finding another plane, but this plane would be smaller and could only hold about 1/2 of the ticketed passengers for this flight and then the rest would be put on a bus and driven down to the Tucson airport. We spoke with customer service and they stated we could in fact obtain our bags and rent a car at our expense and we could put in for a refund of the flight but we would not know for some time whether we would be reimbursed because they were not the appropriate people to make that determination. They did not offer any sort of compensation be it lunch, water or even offering to pay for the parking that we were being charged at our arriving airport- we all know that is not cheap either. No they instead got rude and threatened to call the police because the passengers were upset. Call me crazy but we all paid for that flight and the airfare does not come cheap the least they could have done was offered up some water or lunch or something so that we would not be wasting money on overpriced airport food and water.
