I am a stay home mom so I wanted to look for a job that I could do from home that would not take up too much time and would be easy for me to do. I can type fast and have a large vocabulary, so I figured medical transcription from home would be a breeze. It was fairly expensive to start, but they allow you to be billed monthly. I received my first packet and eagerly jumped right in to the lesson. I took an hour every evening after my son went to bed to do my lessons. I also spent another 45 minutes (typically when I was on the elliptical working out) to review the terms and definitions. I was always a great student so I was very confident I could get this course done in no time. I thought I was on track with the lessons until I received a letter in the mail that I was a few lessons behind. This prompted me to speed up my studying and homework each night. I stopped reviewing the vocabulary words and instead focused on completing the assignments and tests. I was trying to get through it as quickly as possible. When you complete certain lessons, they send you the next packets. I ended up not being able to complete this course because I was too far behind. I was just skipping the entire lessons and going straight to the tests but it still wasn't fast enough. I thought it was going to be something I could do on my own in my spare time. If I had dedicated several hours a day to this course, I would have definitely completed it. I would recommend it to someone who has the time to dedicate to the course.

I've always been interested in the Medical Field and after having children, I wanted to find something I could do from home. After a little research, I found this program and decided to give it a shot. The price is decent and I love that it is a work at your own pace program. Being a busy Mom, it was extremely beneficial for me to be able to work on my own time, at my own pace. I was able to finish the course in about 9 months. US Career Institute was fantastic and very helpful throughout the whole course. They shipped my new packets quickly and I was never out of coursework. They provide you with everything you need, you can even choose to download the audio files to listen to on your MP3 player. They often offer bonuses for completing assignments, you can get up to $50 upon completion. They also have a program you can sign up for if you qualify and they will help you find work after you complete the course. I think the best part of taking this course through US Career Institute is that they are they to help you every step of the way and even after you finish the course. I highly recommend this course to anyone who is looking to further their education in the Medical Field.

I was skeptical when I first heard about this on-line course years ago, but I thought I'd try :)  When I signed up for this course, I paid the entire tuition (my credit cards and college loans were paid off in full and I wasn't about to get myself back in debt). Soon, all the course material arrived, which consisted of cassette tapes and medical terminology handbooks.   I did this course while I working full-time AND being extremely involved in my children's extra-curricular activities (soccer mom, among other things)...Finished the course in one year (though the institute gives you 18-months to complete it).  Received a $50 bonus upon completion of the course (an incentive of $5 for every passing quiz, up to $50) after I received my diploma...They also assist in job placement.

I was skeptical at taking this course at first due to the low price and lenght of the course, but its actually a well trained course. You might not be in the classroom to ask questions when needed but if you call and leave a message they respond back asap. So far everything is going well and there was a few mess ups with my course but they fixed the problem without any hesitation. I find this school an A+ learning course to get you a decent job.

This has been an excellent expierence so far.  The only problem I've had is my first instruction pack did not get mailed due to an error at the school.  They did however, second day air it to me so that I could get started. I opted not to pay tuition up front and to pay monthly because we were in the process of buying a house and the payments are easy to make and I have not penalty for paying it off whenever I want.  Every time I've called I've gotten a call back and they are always helpful and knowledgeable.  It's also an approved school for the MGI Bill.
