Most HelpfulA few weeks ago a friend from out of state sent me the link to her twitter homepage and asked me if I wanted to follow her. Well, I had been seeing some commercials for Twitter but wasn't too sure about this site thing. You know me and the whole social networking thing but I trusted my friend and...

Most HelpfulI don't know the history of Twitter but I'm going to guess that it was the brainchild of young, gifted men who developed it just for fun. I will further wager that their concept of customer service was basically: "If there is something you don't like about Twitter, by all means ... F@#& you!" ...
review »I got an email invitation to join Twitter. I suspect it was an automatic email off a Gmail list or something (hate those). I wasn't sure. Since it was a good buddy that I've not had a chance to catch up with lately, I filled in the blanks and became a twitter-er. Sites do know how to pull your heartstrings. "Your friend wants you to sign up for . . ." Rather a cheap shot - that. Let me (them) decide who and if to invite.
Most likely my entire contact list got an email telling them I Twitter and want them to join. Some of ya'll can probably tell me. I really don't know. Oh sigh. I suspect this,...
review »At first, I didn't understand Twitter nor see the use for it. But as time went on and with promotions from celebrities, it became apparent the various uses for the platform.
Unlike other social networks, Twitter allows you to make simple and quick updates (tweets) about what you're up to, be it professional or personal. And you could post links to direct people to your blog or website.
Another great benefit of Twitter is you could give instant updates about your whereabouts to family and friends while out hiking, on a field trip or even during an emergency as long as you have access to the internet....
review »I am online a lot. I use it for work, for play, for planning, for sharing and for communicating. I have used all types of programs from AOL Instant Message to Yahoo Chat, blogging services, website development, chat rooms, games rooms, surveys, and even have some of my own sites and more. I held out for a long time (sending my friends into shock when I actually joined) before joining Facebook. A couple of months after that I decided to try Twitter and see what all the tweet tweet tweeting was about.
I joined. I created my own little design page on Twitbacks. I tried. I really tried....
review »Twitter: Twack your Friends
If this is you:
1. addicted to your PDA
2. constantly getting/sending text messages
3. constantly checking your email on your PDA
4. you love to send and receive photos by phone
5. you dont want to miss out on ANYTHING
6. people often ask you "wha'ts going on?" coz they know you'll know
7. you have lots of friends who do interesting things and have interesting thoughts, OR
7a. you like to keep track of them anyway
8. you are an exhibitionist who would love to star in his/her own reality show, OR
8a. you just can't believe how many cool ways there are to...
Oh Twitter. At first I thought you were just another fad, like AIM, MySpace and Facebook, that I would be forced to sign up for because everyone else was using it. But as it turns out, I'm the early adopter here - and I signed up because some other service used Twitter for fast & easy updates.
Twitter is like blogging, but you're limited to a certain number of characters per "post" - I think it's around 150. So you have to be concise. But you can update it from just about anywhere, thanks to built in functionality and plug-ins. You can send a "tweet" via text message, via e-mail, via the web interface,...
review »When Twitter was gaining popularity, I tried it, I hated it, I quit it. It was just so boring! Facebook allows people to keep in touch in many ways, including status updates, photos, games, etc. Twitter only allows status updates - that's it! I didn't see the point of having a Twitter account just to read one liners from friends and businesses each day. So I quit.
Recently I reactivated my account for business reasons. I was writing a Reality TV Blog and wanted to get more readers. Twitter seemed to help! I put a link on the end of each article "Follow me on Twitter to find out...
review »Twitter is fun. It's fun to listen to people who you see on TV say things that seem more personal, or funny, or pertinent. Anyone who has read my Facebook review knows about the dim view I hold of social networking sites. On Twitter, you can be anonymous, where on Facebook, you can't. On Twitter, you can follow and un-follow who you want when you want and not risk the backlash of being formally "rejected" or needing the approval of others. You can make your updates private if you want, but...
If your updates are private and you get requests from random people to follow you, wait a week or so and...
review »I gave it a try, and I am convinced this was made by a stalker. All it is is a website that you let people know where you are and what you are doing. On top of that, anyone can "follow" you to know what you are doing. It is kind of creepy. Just stick with facebook..its so much safer and private than twitter.
"A Little Bird Told Me"
Online sites change so often, it is hard to keep up. Facebook now has another colossal competitor. Where's it at now you may wonder? A new website has emerged that has celebrities logging their hourly thoughts and activities, along with companies promoting their products, and average people documenting their bathroom breaks. Twitter is the ultimate site for stalk-ability, allowing its members to update their status continuously. The real twist is that everyone seems to be Twittering-are we that self-indulgent?
The website...
review »I like Twitter, but I've found over the months that I've been a member, I'd rather read your updates than obligate myself to updating my own tweets.
If I'm going to find time to socialize online, I'm going to plant my rearend at the computer and write something of substance. Not that regular Tweeters continually blurb "I'm having pork chops for dinner" and "oh, a really weird looking car just went by". Some folks have the Twitter essentials down to a science, and with 140 words or less pass on a whole lot of pertinent/interesting information in a single tweet.
I have a blog and email, and I also...
review »Twitter is a very busy and active site, one that no one knew would be this popular under five years - however, there are some downsides. Most of the active profiles on Twitter are bots and marketers, not "real" people, and a great deal of what you get is a new form of spam, similar to why many people do not want marketing things to come through in text form. It is a great way to share - but consider that you are sharing with a group of people who may not really be reading your advertisements, and may not be really buyers or consumers. What about Twitter makes it "above average"? Simple - you don't...
review »Twitter is interesting. I followa few "tweeters" but I just haven't REALLY gotten into twitter just yet.
It seems to me that Twitter kind of tends to be "commercially" driven with lots of people and companies touting their services and capabilities. I started following one guy who posted over and over about his photography services.
I'm not sure why we have to know what our friends are doing every second of every day.
Twitter can be useful for news updates - whether for local or national news, or for things like sports teams/results.
If I told you my twitter screen name, whould you "follow" me?...
