Twitter —

When Twitter was gaining popularity, I tried it, I hated it, I quit it.  It was just so boring!  Facebook allows people to keep in touch in many ways, including status updates, photos, games, etc.  Twitter only allows status updates - that's it!  I didn't see the point of having a Twitter account just to read one liners from friends and businesses each day.  So I quit.

Recently I reactivated my account for business reasons.  I was writing a Reality TV Blog and wanted to get more readers.  Twitter seemed to help!  I put a link on the end of each article "Follow me on Twitter to find out when I write a new article".  In just a month I was up to 26 people following me on Twitter. It's not much, but it has potential.  Every time I write a new blog entry, I twitter it on my Reality TV twitter.  I don't know for sure if it's pulling in my readers, but the fact that I'm getting followers gives me hope.

In the end, I still don't see why anyone would use twitter to keep in touch with Friends since Facebook has so much more to offer.  However I can see how it could be nice to "follow" businesses and things you like to find out announcements before anyone else does.  If you have a business or you are a writer, jump on board the Twitter Train because it's about to take off with or without you :)

Twitter updates are pretty easy which makes it not that much work to use.  I have Trillian which allows me to link to my twitter and send update messages without even having to open a browser.  Twitter also offers their own downloadable program to link to twitter, or you can use your phone as well.  With so many easy ways to send status updates, it's not going to cause your business much extra work, so you might as well do it.

Whether you understand Twitter or not, you might want to dive in to this phenomenon just to drum up some readers or some business!  Enjoy!!

I'm like you--I think it would drive me nuts personally, but has great resources and benefits for businesses! Nice review :)
