Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1) —

I picked this book up initially when I was in a vampire-book buying mood.  It was one of 3 or 4 I got that day.  But when I started this one, it was totally different.

OK, yes, it was technically written for teens.  But I am 30, and both myself, my friends, and my older sis (36) and her friends all fell in love with Bella, Jacob, Alice, and Edward.  The fact that is was written for teens means it dones't have any of the adult conscious to it, the adult worries, the adult BS.  It is just a love story about friends and enemies.  And unlike most teen romances, it doesn't deal with stereotypical teen angst. Best of all, I forget these characters are in high school.  Sure they have a few teenage inpulsive moments, but for the most part, when the scenes don't take place in school, I forget they are 17.

As for the vampire theme, it plays an important role, but this is NOT a book about vampires.  It is about love, trust, and life.

One warning though: you might just find yourself falling for the underdog.
