Twilight (The Twilight Saga, Book 1) — 

While admittedly this book was an easy read (I finished in less than 2 days, with midterms approaching), that can be attributed to immature writing and lack of plot. The amount of description in the book is tedious- I do not find it necessary to know every detail of Bella's day, and please spare me another descripition of Edward's perfect appearance.  The entire novel reminded me of one long descriptive essay- the kind 12 year olds are assigned to teach them how to use adjectives in writing.  The romance was trite and did expand beyond Bella's love of Edward's looks and Edward's lust for Bella's blood.  There is no substance, and other than a few awkward kissing scenes, there is nothing there to help me understand the "connection" the two characters share.  There is no development of the relationship- Bella goes from hating Edward to being desperately in love with him within a few chapters, hardly blinking when she learns he is a vampire.  Moreover, as a young woman, I find Bella a disgrace to womankind with her hopeless devotion to a man whom she can not realistically be with, and her determination to end her mortal life to remain eternally with a man she has only been with for a few months.  While many claim this novel is realistic in its portrayal of the relationship, I strongly disagree.  How many teenage girls do you know that would be willing to risk their lives to be with a man they have only just met, or at the very least, how many people do you know would be so completely unaffected by learning their new boyfriend sucks blood?
The entire 500 pages of this book can be summarized in a few sentences: Girl meets vampire. Girl falls in love with vampire. Bad vampire comes after girl. Vampire saves girl from bad vampire.
There is no real conflict in the story until the last 100 pages, and even then it is resolved nearly as soon as it starts, with a poorly written action sequence and more hopeless whining from our main character.
WhiIe this book is excellent if you are bored and looking for something to occupy your time, I would not reccomend it to anyone looking for a worthwhile read.

i thought i was weird for hating this story. as a writer myself, i cant complement stephanie meyers for this poorly written novel. its too cliched and predictable for my taste yet ppl throw themselves all over it. im sure more than half the readers have seen something like this before in life. and secondly, i thought i saw this plot once before and after watching queen of the damned it hit me. the 2 plots are somewhat similiar. all in all this novel was a failure

Everyone intitled to own opinion. But I don't agree. Loved the books & loved the movie. It's a book you read again & again!!!!
