I am not a fan of vampire stories. Okay, I liked the movie "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", but that was mostly for the one-liners. But a good friend of mine, whose opinion I trust, recommended "Twilight". One day, when I felt I had nothing better to do, I picked up "Twilight" from the library to give it a once over. Once over, nothing. I could hardly put it down! From the beginning I identified with the main female character, Bella. I had never moved to a different state in high school nor had I ever met, let alone fallen in love with, a vampire, but something clicked. The author has a great way of making her character feel like your typical every day person. Regardless, I truly enjoyed this story. The plot is very good, the characters are multi-dimensional, and the writing style is easy, yet engaging. For all its 500 plus pages, it is a quick read and highly entertaining. Again, vampires are not my thing, but this book deals with the subject matter in a very engaging and enticing manner. I also loved that there wasn't any offensive language or crude sexual references. I don't need that in a book. Be aware that this is a book for teenagers, but adults can enjoy losing themselves for a few hours a day in the fantasy world of "Twilight", too.
