Turbo Jam Maximum Results Package —

Turbo Jam is a popular workout DVD set that includes several phases of the workout on DVDs and a book on eating foods to maximize weight loss while using the Turbo Jam workout.

The Good News First

Turbo Jam is energizing and fast-paced. It has upbeat music to keep you going and the moves are fresh. The trainer shares unique ways to move fast and burn more calories during your workout.

This weight loss program is geared towards younger people or dieters who have been exercising a while and need a change in their workout. As far as calorie burned, the DVD set delivers. You will sweat your butt off and be sore the next few days.

The Not So Good News

I'm not a dancer by any means. I would rather be resistance training than doing cardio anyway, but I realize cardio is necessary for heart health and weight loss, so I look for interesting ways to work it in. I thought that Turbo Jam would be perfect for me to have fun while working out. Fun isn't the word I would use to describe Turbo Jam though. They describe it as a cardio party, but it really is a difficult workout and after watching the moves and learning them, the workouts had me sweating bullets and sore for days afterward.

The moves are difficult and some of them felt awkward to do. If you aren't used to "shimmying" your hips and throwing in "hip" dance moves throughout your workout, it may throw you off too.

Recommendation

I prefer to call a party a party a workout a workout. There is no question in my mind that the Turbo Jam is a workout that will help you burn calories and lose weight, but a party it is not. The young and fit may enjoy this workout though.

I love this workout, but I am also used to doing more difficult moves. This is definitely for the more coordinated or at least those patient enough to keep at it. Counting moves helps. The trainer is way too peppy, but at the same time I like it.

I have this (and probably every other at home workout made) and wasn't impressed. My feeling is, if you can do the stuff these people want you to, then you're fit already! I still do Richard Simmons' Sweatin' to the Oldies sometimes. Zumba - the first one - is lots of fun if you don't care about how to really do the steps. But I am a terrible klutz and just move around and pretend I know what I am doing. lol.
