As a busy mom of three who works almost full time, I was very much wanting to purchase a vegetable steamer that would make rpeparing veggies easy and quick. This micro-steamer realy fits the bill! It is so convenient to put the water in the bottm, then load the veggies in and microwave away. The veggies I cook in here-mainly broccoli, cauliflower and carrots have a great "naked" flavor, and they all cook evenly when I fill the tray to the top, and even when the lid doesn't go back on securely. Cleaning the steamer is also really easy. I have had mine now for several years, and it has not discolored at all from multiple uses and cleanings. I have also used it to steam peas and corn. My only complaint is that I wish it was a little bigger. My kids are very young now, so they don't eat a lot. When they get older, I will need to steam two steamer-fulls to make enough for a family of five. I also read up that it is BPA-free, so no worries about cancer-causing chemicals!

I've owned the larger family size microsteamer on and off for years. I use it exclusivly to brown hamburger in the microwave. Place the hamburger in the top allows all the fat and juice to drip to the bottom away from the meat, taking away alot of the fat. I'm not much of a fresh vegetable eater but that's the thing that this item was made for. I just have found another use for it. When I'm in a hurry and don't have time to brown ground beef the traditional way. This is the way I go.
