Truper Aluminum #12 Scoop Shovel —

Problem: Leaves everywhere. Sometimes 15 bags at a time. Bending over to load each bag is a back breaking chore. I did this for many years and finally decided there had to be an easier way.

Solution: One trip to the hardware store later, my troubles were over. The Truper #12 scoop shovel has revolutionized the way I bag leaves. What used to take an hour or more now takes 10 minutes. No more bending, grabbing or stuffing. Just stretch a trash bag inside a round garbage can and the shovel will fill it in a few easy scoops. Rinse and repeat and the job is soon done.

In rural areas leaves are frequently transported to a burn pile away from the house for disposal. Filling a truck bed or cart with a traditional flat nose shovel can easily take half an hour. The #12 scoop shovel will have it done in a fraction of the time with far less effort and fuss.

Scoop shovels are intended for quickly transferring large loads - grain, snow, construction debris, etc. - but having one around the house has proven far more useful than expected. The Truper version is very well made and is ergonomically perfect, just the right shape and size. The fact that it is aluminum means it weighs no more than a standard flat nosed shovel. With aluminum trading for a fair price as scrap metal these days, it also means you won't want to leave it laying around the yard.

If you live on wooded property and have struggled with leaves each fall, or if you occassionaly find yourself transporting loads that are too large for a standard shovel, I highly reccommend the "Truper Scooper". It's a well-made product that will change the way you work for the better.

I've noticed that you are a genuine writer, too. We have some of the same pet peeves, like why bother to write if you aren't going to bother to make it entertaining and presentable? I wish more people felt that way - this site gets frequented by those in search of earnest opinions and it needs full credibility in every aspect of its presentation.

I'd kind of hit a brick wall as to what to review. Afterall, this site is heavy on products for women. Then I realized, yeah, but they've already got that covered. Write something for the men. I worked on a few last night and hope to post this evening or tomorrow.

If a shovel can be exciting, just think how entertaining a military tool can be! (Gong.)

Take Care!

Why thank you,
I heard you were a good person! :) I like your 1962 Bachelor model, leaks huh?

Wow, 5 doggies-more hair than I can handle have plenty with my two, or I'm guessing there is a third one around here somewhere hiding...lol....Daisy sounds cute...Roadkill? That's almost as mean as me with our one dog Cody, he has lets just say added some extra brown fat....Can't turn around between the coffee table and couch...So the one day, he was backing up, I went BEEP ~ BEEP ~ BEEP! My 1961 model said that was mean....and then laughed.....I do wish he could talk to me and tell me about his life before us, I think he was abused... :( Connie is a Free Spirit, through, & through!
I like Nancy she is a great person, good friend..Hope to Chit~Chat again soon.....darlyn

I hear the 1961 Model Husband is a great mower. I use a 1962 Bachelor Loser model all the time. Great but it leaks a lot.

Currently the family has 5 dogs - a momma dog named "Momma Dog", her three pups, Maddie, Ginger and Buck, and a small mutt that walked up to me late one night, so ugly she's cute. They call her "Daisy" but I had named her "Roadkill" and still call her that sometimes.

We have a small cabin out in the East Texas woods which is where the snakes are. I have to walk the backyard with a flashlight and a machete before the dogs can go out at night. Nine copperheads so far since April. They love fallen oak leaves, unfortunately.

Nancy says you are a good friend so I am "friending" you. Kick me out if you feel like it!

What a great review and good tips for using this product! Too funny - but maybe too true about the aluminum recycling price putting your shovel at risk!

I'm all for composting but we don't really garden up there. The soil is sugar sand and clay mostly. When I toss leftovers outside they get eaten by raccoons or rabbits. I'd have to have a bin but no real reason, nothing to use it for.

All we can grow are lemons and limes from pots.

Nancy44 wrote on Oct 8, 2009 at 4:40AM

I want those leaves~!!! I use them in my compost. Actually we have plenty...but I can always use more. I see you haul them off to the burn pile, I'm sure there's ALOT.

Do you compost? Especially if they are Live Oak, Spanish Oak, Ash? And yes the Pecan leaves too. Greatest thing to add to compost besides your organic kitchen scraps.

Looks like a great shovel, I just use a rake, but I need a good shovel to turn my compost bin. My shovel is not like your shovel :(

Great review~!

Sounds like you have quiet the trees. When we lived in Ohio, we also had a ton of trees. We would have to rake them down by the curb and they came and vacuumed them up. That was nice, no bagging. Snakes, where do you live? That I wouldn't go for.....me not like! I have a Lowes right by my house, I'll have to check it out, I was serious, about the shovel. Your discussion made me want to make you happy.....I know what you me. Do you have any doggies? I wrote about our one dog, and then on the quick reviews it asked me about a lawnmower, so I put my 1961 model hubby in there. I don't know what kind of mower. His dad gave it to us a few years back. So that was my best answer. Have a Great Day!!! Nice to meet~Chat. darlyn

I'm no longer dreading fall the way I have for years. My house has three large pecan trees that just rain leaves all day. In the country we have oaks every ten yards it seems like. Same problem and there are snakes in them. Lowes seems to have the best price - I've seem them online selling for over $50, which is too high for a shovel.

That post sure got a lot of attention. I was really just kidding! At least it got people to read the review.

Hi,
I hope I didn't hit a wrong button. I wanted to edit my review, I spelled a word wrong. There was nothing Inappropriate, so I hope that didn't happen, with hitting Edit....

Great review!! Sounds like it really shortens your time, so now what to do with your free time....? I just might have some leaves around here that are starting to fall. I think we might be looking for a new lighter one this year, and this one sounds really good.

Wow, thanks Patty! I wanted to add a pic but am still learning. Didn't want to violate copyright material. That definitely looks like the right one, it's just so much funnier looking in person.

Thanks again.

I rated and added a main pic. Please let me know if this is not the shovel you reviewed. It was hard to find the exact wording to be sure that was the actual shovel.

This really does sound like it makes scooping up leaves much easier, no kidding. Great review !!
