True Lemon —

I used to be a huge soda junkie.  I would drink anywhere between 3-5 cans of soda in an average day.  Recently, I have all but completely given up soda, and I was looking for some kind of flavoring to add to water.  That's when I came across True Lemon/True Lime/True Orange (Since my review of all 3 products would be identical, I'm writing this as one combined review).

True products are crystallized lemon, lime, and orange juice.  They're totally natural.  The product comes in packets, each of which is equivalent to one wedge of lemon/lime/orange.  I have found that one packet is good for flavoring 10oz of water.

True products can also be used as a substitute in recipes.  According to the True Lemon web site (truelemon.com), one packet equals one tablespoon of lemon/lime/orange juice.  Simply add your packet(s) and then add the appropriate amount of water (to make up for the liquid).  I have never actually used the products in a recipe, so I can't personally vouch for their effectiveness.

Finding the product can be something of a challenge.  If you go to the True Lemon web site, there is a page where you can enter your zip code and find where to buy the products.  For me, the nearest store is approx. 25 miles away, so I ordered the products from Discount Coffee.com.  I've noticed that the products can also be ordered through Amazon.

True products cost less per unit than soda and other beverage flavoring products.  They're also good for you and have multiple uses.  If you're looking to kick the soda habit, these are products you should try.

Update - A happened to notice today that True Lemon has lactose as an added ingredient.  True Orange and True Lime do not.  I'm not sure why the lactose is there, but it's certainly something to mention for the sake of those who happen to be lactose intolerant.

It's an essence. It's crystallized lemon/lime/orange juice. It tastes the same as if you squeezed a lemon wedge into a glass of water, because that's essentially what it is.

This looks like a really good product! Is it an essence, or does it have a bite to it like limeade and lemonade? I don't care for "ades"

I get them from discountcoffee.com, but maybe there's a store in your area that has them. Try the sites below:

I received free samples of each flavor and really liked the lemon. I need to find out where I can buy some since I'm no longer drinking diet soda. Great review!

Great review. I am going to try and find this to tuck into my purse. Did I mention that I love limes and lemons? ;-) Great flavors for me.

Nice picture and that was a nice touch to mention that it's on top of a business card.

The packets are very convenient to carry around, too. I added a picture of one to my review. I put it on top of a business card to show its size.

Very informative review--I didn't know these came in powder form. That would be very convenient for travel in particular. Thanks for the info and tips on how to find it.
