Okay, I read JasyJen's review and really thought I would want to try this product.  The other day I was at Walmart and decided I needed to stock up on food and beverages for the weekend because I wouldn't want to get out just to buy more.  I happened to go down the chips aisle and the soft drinks are on that same aisle.  I saw the Tropicana products and then remembered Jenny's review.  I found the 2 liter bottles for only 99 cents!  I bought one because I wasn't really sure if I would like it.

Well, I have been drinking it since yesterday and I love it!  She was right with everything she said about her review.  It's like a well blend of orange juice and just the right ingredients to turn it into a soda but it doesn't have the caffeine or carbonation.

Product Details:

Made with real fruit juice. Non-carbonated. No caffeine. with 100% Vitamin C.

Ingredients:

Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Orange Juice from Concentrate, Citric Acid, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Sodium Hexametaphosphate (to Protect Flavor), Modified Food Starch, Potassium Benzoate (Preserves Freshness), Natural Flavors, Sodium Citrate, Potassium Sorbate (Preserves Freshness), Ester Gum, Calcium Disodium EDTA (to Protect Flavor), Yellow 5, Red 40

Since there is no caffeine you don't need to worry about overstimulating a child with this.  This would be a perfect drink for in the evenings when you need them to wind down.  Because there is no carbonation you would also save some of those most embarrassing moments with the "burp fest."

I have a real sensitive stomach and sometimes orange juice tends to upset it because the high levels of citric acid.  This gives me some of the Vitamin C I need without compromising comfort.  I can't wait to find the cans because then I can take them to work!

Jenny, thanks for introducing me to a really great product!

Yesterday while in Walmart I found the 12-pack for $4.78.  The cans aren't available in every store though.  I was in another Walmart last week and they only had the 2 liter bottles.  And, the 2 liter bottle for $0.99 must have been a Fourth of July special because they are now $1.50 at the same store.

I've found that most doctors know very little about allergens in medications and foods. That's a shame that you had to discover that the hard way.

The sad thing was that my doctor unknowingly suggested the Chondrointin for my muscles and joints and wasn't aware of this until I developed hives and my eyes were swollen and watery. I think shellfish must be in all the Chondrointin vitamins/pills because I researched the ingredients on about five or six brands and saw it in all of them.

Thanks for the tip on the type of vitamin you were trying. It's always helpful to know of items that contain shellfish--I wouldn't have automatically thought of shellfish in that one before checking ingredients!

I forgot to tell you this. It was the Chondrointine and Glosonamine (Sp.?) meds for joint and cartilage improvement. They're being sold in the Vitamin section NOT the pain relievers aisle. It was recommended I take something like this and after reacting to 1 and reading the ingredients on about 4 or 5 others I came to realize that the shellfish must be an active ingredient in general for this med/vitamin whatever it is considered to be. I hope this helps.

If you can remember the name of the OTC joint med, I'd love to know what it is. I have several relatives that are allergic to shellfish and might benefit from that info.

Well by all means do not let them have this drink. I guess it is good to post ingredients when people have major health problems. We found out an OTC joint med had shellfish in it and no one could figure out why I was getting sick when taking it daily. It wasn't until I got a hold of the bottle and read the ingredients. Aaaggghhh!!!

Sounds like a good drink! My kids are extremely sensitive to high fructose corn syrup, so the list of ingredients is helpful to me in reading your review.

I don't think it's as tangy and tarty as Sunny Delight. This stuff is so good I have almost finished a 2 L bottle since Thursday night. All by myself!!

AnnaBanana wrote on Jul 5, 2009 at 3:22PM

Do you think this is sort of like Sunny Delight? I used to love that. This sounds worth a try, also.

You're welcome! I'm glad you liked it as much as I do. It's just soooo smooth! :-)

Alas, this must be the beverage my children were talking about the week of VBS. They kept saying they were having orange juice soda. When I would ask them what that meant Christian would say, "Well, it's like orange juice soft drink without the gas so we won't burp in church." I was like, huh? I guess I now know what to buy ;+}

It's a non-carbonated drink--similar to orange juice without all the citric acid. I think if someone likes orange juice they would like this.

this2shallpass19 wrote on Jul 3, 2009 at 6:50PM

I'm kind of confused. It is a soda, but there isn't any carbonation? Is it flat like water, or fizzy? It sounds good and refreshing.

LaurieM wrote on Jul 3, 2009 at 2:48PM

I've never heard of this until now. Sounds really good!
