Tropic Thunder Review Summary
Tropic Thunder is a movie within a movie that takes pointed jabs at both "Vietnam War films and prima donna actors who demand to be pampered on a movie set.". The film stars Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr, Jack Black and Brandon T. Jackson as the "prima donnas" with roles in the a new Vietnam action flick based on a best-selling memoir by Four Flyleaf Tayback (Nick Nolte). As directed by a newbie director, the whole production is coming apart at the seams and a public dressing down by the studio chief (an A-List cameo) results in the actors being dropped of in the middle of nowhere with cameras hidden in the trees and little else. Everything that can go wrong does, resulting in a movie "filled with hilarious moments when all the actors try to outperform each other and struggle to remember if they are just acting or have actually become the characters they are portraying.". Reviewers say "Tropic Thunder is one of the most bizarre films I have ever seen." but that, the laughs are plenty. There is controversy swirling around Tropic Thunder concerning the Downey Jr character being essentially in black face and references to disabled Americans. Reviewers felt these issues were in the context of satire, however, and do not detract from the film nor are they disrespectful.

Tropic Thunder is one of the most bizarre films I have ever seen. Largely a ''movie within a movie'', the film is a spoof on both Vietnam War films and prima donna actors who demand to be pampered on a movie set. But it's more than slapstick comedy. Tropic Thunder - Go See what the fuss is about!
I was already curious about the new flick by Robert Downey Jr., Ben Stiller and Jack Black when I started seeing interviews about the film's "controversial" nature. ??? Surely people were not up in arms about a white man playing a black man......actors have been portraying the opposite sex, foreigners and other races for years. It couldn't be THAT, could it?
We arrived on time for the movie and got the shock of our lives, which turned into a big laugh on us. GET THERE ON TIME, PEOPLE! ;-) That's all I can say about that...

Robert Downey, Jr. deserves an Oscar for his performance as a blonde, blue-eyed Aussie actor transformed into a 60's African-American black man. What a riot! and exceptional talent. He was so believable in his role, that Tyra Banks said today that even she got to believing he was a real black man and asked the audience if he didn't seem like any black person's Uncle Leroy!!

Watch the movie and this will all make sense.
The fact that the movie is causing a stir in our society makes the movie worth seeing.
I thought most of the movie was hilarious... I could think of maybe one scene that wasn't all that great but for the most part it was an awesome take on making fun of anything and everything. Laugh a little and don't be offended. That's not what this movie is about.

I had the pleasure of viewing an uncut version of this film...it is the best adult comedy in over a decade!
Not your typical Ben Stiller movie, but I have to say HE BROUGHT IT! This cast is GREAT!!! Jack Black, he almost made me pee my pants....RD Jr in blackface, I was not sure how that would pull off, but it is so well written it BELONGS there!
There are a couple of surprise stars in this, but I would not ruin it for anyone.
This movie was SO GOOD, that I am going to PAY to see it again on opening night. I just hope they do not cut anything from it. It was perfect the way I saw...

TROPIC THUNDER---- Rocked my world!!!!
This movie was so wrong. It had foul language as you would expect hollywooders to use. It was politcally incorrect and I loved it. It had fantastic actors- Still, Cruise, Downey Black...the story line was unbeliveable and extremely entertaining. I loved how it made fun of the stupidity of hollywood. You would expect it to be overly dramatic and just ridiculous. The movie kept me laughing and loudly at that. I loved that Downey play "' a dude disguised as a dude playing another dude."' It was a miserable weekend here in the North East. There was rain and the temperatures were in the teens. Perfect weekend to sit home and curl up and watch some movies. Went to the Red Box and rented 5 movies. One of them, Tropic Thunder. Horrible. Lame. Stupid. Just plain bad. Boring plot. I am a huge fan of Ben Stillers. Even the movies all star cast couldn't hold me or my fiances attention. I wont even waste another breath of air on reviewing this.

Tropic Thunder is the kind of movie that you invite all your crazy, wacky, fun-loving friends to join you. I haven't heard so many laughs in the theater as this, and it made me jump and scream a few times too!
Don't be afraid to laugh! It is funny!
P.S. No sex scenes, unless you think Jack Black's farts are sexy... !! Now how about a can of some Booty Sweat to go??

First off, this Movie is great, as long as your willing to get past some blood and gore. The Movie is hilarious, each character has his own role in the movie.
Ben Stiller plays as the action movie star, whom is failing out of hollywood at the moment with flops such as "Simple Jack", which is brought back to him many times throughout the movie. Once he is captured by a group of violent drug thugs, he is made to perform his role before the group of thugs as their entertainment.
Bottom Line - If you love Ben Stiller, you'll love this movie.
Jack Black plays as the large guy with a large gun....
