I always check trip advisor before I book a hotel. I like to see the details and also find out what other people think of a place. The pictures are also very helpful - especially the ones posted by the reviewers who have stayed there. Sometimes the contrast between the pictures the hotel posts and the reviewers post is remarkable and I am cautious about booking. Sometimes the reviewers have very different opinions about a place - but it's always helpful to see what the pitfalls of a place might be.
