Tristate is a misnomer as this company owns mortar-and-brick stores in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Connecticut and four of the NYC boroughs. Established as a camera supply store in 1977, TriState Camera has since spread its wings to include video equipment, computers, printers, copiers, fax machines and all supplies for the home and office. Utilizing the website is as easy as walking through the aisles of the store. The only thing missing is a flesh-and-blood to ask questions of, but I have found that if I cannot find my answer somewhere in the webpages, I can call the customer service numbers or send an e-mail, and all questions will be answered. Have people had problems with customer service? Yes. I haven't. I have heard of customers and store personnel butting heads and not coming to a reasonable solution, but doesn't that happen everywhere at one time or another?

Visiting any page, at http://www.tristatecamera.com, a new customer can see that this is not a fly-by-night operation. Quality seals from PayPal, McAfee, Visa, MasterCard and others are displayed as is a "Manufacturer's Links" so that customers can further research a product and customer's service representatives - don't take Tristate's word for it - go straight to the manufacturer! A final point on the "About Us" page is notable: "We also do repairs on most products not under warranty". This is the main reason I became a customer.

Can't find something even though you've hunted and hunted? They have a search box at the top of every page, but sometimes I get frustrated with that. Try the site map! For me, it works every time. When you do find something you want to place in your shopping basket, you have two columns to make your decision. First is the price. The second column shows BUY or CONTACT US. Contact us means the item is currently not in stock for immediate delivery, but they will contact you, when they are able to ship, and you can place the order then or have the option to go elsewhere. I have read reviews where shoppers were angry because they placed the order and TriState had to respond that there would be a wait time. Websites are not infallible, and this company has a very large inventory. I had it happen to me, once, and the company kept me advised of the situation. My order was filled without a long delay.

Shipping rates are standard. The site has a FAQ site to cover most questions. Delivery time can be monitored online. If you are familiar with shopping at Amazon.com, then you will feel very comfortable here. Payments can be made through major credit cards and also PayPal for increased security. International shipments are available, though not to every country, and the payment type and customer's address must be confirmed before an order can be placed.

Believe me, this is a website that you can get lost in if you enjoy electronics. I have to literally monitor my husband's time here, or he would be ordering "toys" and breaking our bank account. My son-in-law has shopped in the retail stores, and it is like watching a kid going through the toy section at Christmas. If you can't find the item here, you won't find it anywhere. Price? Yes, that's my concern. They are competitive, and have a lot of clearance sales. I do shop for the cost of the item, and TriState doesn't always have the lowest, but if I have any concerns about someone to back up a product they sell, I always come back here. Take a look-see. You might like it.
