Travel Discussions

I have been to many countries but I would not be particularly interested in going to Asia or the Middle East. It would be too easy to target me as an American in the Middle East. Believe I will pass, thank you.

I would not go back to Mexico, had bad experience there. When you have to pay off police to just travel through their country, I don't want to be there. Also, farther down into Mexico the roads look like you are travelling through a landfill. Garbage filling the ditches of the highways.

There is so much happening in the world today that you really aren't safe anywhere, but why put yourself in a country that is war torn, known to be violent with americans, or have history of taking americans prisoner.

I thnk I would travel just about anywhere if I had someone with me who was familiar with the country. A translator wouldn't hurt either. I'm a very curious person & I love experiencing new things. I absolutely LOVED my trip to Cancun & we're even planning another trip back this April. We stuck mainly to the tourist sections, which naturally is much different from the "real" Mexico, but we did do an excursion that took us through the poorer sections. People were living in open huts & our guide explained that people don't sleep on beds, they just sleep on the dirt ground or in a hammock. It was pretty heart-breaking since I've never seen anything like that.
