I totally agree with you, Bob.  Although I have traveled to a few other countries I really prefer to stay in the US and see more of my own country.  There are plenty of places I'd never consider traveling to which limits my options but I don't want to worry about things like terrorism, religious wars, not being able to drink the water, or my personal safety.  I guess I'm kind of a chicken LOL.
