I think we all get great memories stuck in our head from our vacations. Then, we go back and think, "Huh? This is not what I remembered."

What spot have you re-visited and then felt like, "Boy I wish I'd just stuck with the old memories." It just wasn't as great as what was stuck in your head.

I had this experience with Disney World in Florida. When I visited as a kid it was ''magical''.  Everything was fun and exciting. When I visited again some years later it was still fun, but the magic was gone. The castle didn't seem half as big as I remembered, some of the attractions seemed lame, and I mostly remember the blistering heat (hint: don't visit Florida in June!)

I guess for me it would be my home town. When I went to college, there were more people in my dorm than there were in my home town. As a matter of fact, some of my classes had about half the number of people of my home town. I guess that gave me more of a perspective on things. My nephew is getting ready to leave from the same home town to the same college, but he lucked up and got into a much smaller dorm.

Yes, going to a campground with our adult kids; taking our kids to DisneyWorld for Thanksgiving as adults (what were we thinking??).

Disney has grown in size but less to do.  It does seem much smaller but the walk has significantly increased.  Hated the place the last time we went.  I think the initial awe wears off pretty quick after the first visit.  Try Universal Studios - it seems to change with every visit.

My apologies, I hadn't read the original comment properly. Yes, Disneyland does seem smaller, but I chalk it up to the current amount of interest I have in the rides and exhibits versus the fascination I had when I was younger. If only we could see through the eyes of a child again...

Las Vegas didn't seem so novel and exciting the second time around (and any time after that).
