Transformers Review Summary

Transformers is a fitting follow-on to the cartoon from the 80s. Great special effects abound as robots transform into cars, trucks, helicopters, etc. Transformers zips along "at a pace that makes its 144 minutes rush by without a slack moment." Many reviewers went into seeing this live action film without many expectations, but found Transformers to be a crazy nail-biting ride. Shia LeBeouf is on a tear recently after the success of Disturbia, and put in a compelling, humorous performance as the nerd turned hero. Being a fan of the original Transformers series isn't series isn't necessary to enjoy the film. In fact, a few diehards of the original don't find this to measure up. Yet, all reviewers seem to be "completely amazed with the special effects."

Transformers, they were not around when I was growing up but I being a cartoon buff, I remember well the cartoon I used to watch in my twenties.  The carton was hit and miss and hard to catch on television, but the story is as old as human kind: good (The Autobots led by Optimus Prime) versus evil (The...

I watched this movie to see if it was something I would let my son watch.  It wasn't.  I think he would have really enjoyed the special effects and the transformers, but there is too much adult content.  Why can't film makers simply make a film without the flithy language and stupid sexual content? ... read full review »

I recently saw Transformers with a friend of mine. We are both grown men and expected to see a juvenile, special effects filled effort to bring the toy franchise onto the big screen. We ended up going with it after seeing Roger Ebert's strongly positive review. I was pleasantly surprised. The plot line held together, the special effects we amazing and the heroines were not only attractive, but for once, intelligent and capable.

Shia LeBeouf is on a tear recently and puts in a compelling and humorous performance as the nerd, turned hero, gets the girl and saves the world central hero. Megan Fox,...

We look forward to summer movies as entertainments that deliver thrilling action sequences, dazzling special effects, chills up our spines and gags that keep us laughing. Transformers does all that to perfection, zipping along at a pace that makes its 144 minutes rush by without a slack moment.

The satisfaction it delivers is no doubt helped by a sense of lowered expectations. This is a movie based on a TV cartoon show nearly 25 years old, which was created to sell a line Japanese robot toys. Add to the equation that it’s directed by Michael Bay, whose films traditionally rake in loads of cash...

Transformers was one of my childhood favorites; I had all the action figures, even Sam and Mikaela. I first heard about this movie while watching Clerks 2 but, I thought it was just something thrown in the movie for dialog and humor. I did a little checking and sure enough, there was a live action Transformers movie in the works. I was excited to say the least.

Plot
: A civilization of robots are searching the galaxy for something called the All Spark. The All Spark can rebuild their civilization and return it to its former glory and it just so happens that it crashed landed on the Earth. The good...

In a summer that had movies like Spiderman 3, and Pirates of the Caribbean At Worlds End.  Transformers saved the summer with a great surprise movie of the year.  Right off the bat I just have to say, no movie has ever made me think about getting into my car and hoping it wouldn't transform into some robot like this movie did.  Nothing in this movie looks fake or like it just doesn't belong, and every actor in this movie just fits.  From the breakout roles of Shia Lebouf and Megan Fox, to small roles like Bernie Mac.  The list of great actors in this movie is way to long to list.  The only... read full review »

The Case

To be honest, I wasn’t expecting much from Transformers besides good special effects.  I figured it would be best to go in with low expectations and prepare for a so-so movie.  I sure as heck wasn’t ready to be thoroughly entertained from beginning to end!

The Good

The one thing I thought would be decent – the special effects – weren’t decent at all, they were amazing.  I was like a little child sitting in the theater, gazing up in absolute awe at the movie magic displayed onscreen.  The one phrase running continuously through my head was ‘This is so cool!’

And, as a bonus,...

Unbelievable!  This movie surprised the heck out me.  I had no idea what I was in store for.  I was beyond pleased.  The special effects are truly one of a kind and will definitely set the standards high for other films.  The humor was funny and on-target.  The writing and graphics were very creative.  I had to get this movie for my kids for Christmas.  Actually Santa did!  This lead kid has mega talent. He was born to act and does it effortlessly.  Way to go!!!  Clean, fun and definitely entertaining ~

Well, I noticed almost immediately that all four reviews for Transformers were written by men. I just had to butt in with my two cents. I am a 23 year old girl that absolutely LOVED this movie.

From start to finish, Transformers is crazy, nail-biting ride. It stands up to the intense suspense that earned it an R rating.  However, due to a fight by Michael Bay, the rating was reduced to PG-13. (My husband is a Transformers geek, therefore I knew about the fight over the rating before the movie even hit the theaters.) Transformers had the audience cheering audibly when Bumblebee convinced...

I'm not usually into sci-fi, action figure type movies but I loved this one. We had a chance to see it on IMAX the 3rd time and it was even better. There were scenes in the IMAX version that weren't in the original version. Very entertaining with action, romance, compassion and humor. I would recommend this movie to anyone looking for entertainment. If you like movies that are "edge of your seat" or suspense types, it's not Transformer but still enjoyable.

The most impressive aspect of Transformers was most certainly the special effects.  The robot vs. robot fight scenes were, in a word, REMARKABLE.  I wasn't aware that modern day special effects could produce images so fantastic, and so REALISTIC, in fact the robots in Transformers didn't seem to be computer generated at all.  Great Job!!

As a fan of the original series, I loved the movie.  While the movie took some liberty with the back-story of the origins of the Transformers - i.e. what is their purpose on Earth, when did they arrive - it is largely true to the cartoon.  The transform process was smooth.  It was actually more believable to see the vehicles transform into humanoid forms in the movie than it was in the cartoon...I always wondered what happened to Prime's trailer when he transformed...  The action scenes were well done, though it was sometimes hard to keep track of which figures were Autobots and which were...

I love action and sci-fi movies. Anything that is impossible and unbelievable i will watch it. Transformers is a cartoon that I grew up with and enjoyed, so it was surprising to see it come to life. It was amazing and lived up to what I would have expected it to be. I cant wait to see the next one, I know it will blow the first one out of the water. I cannot count how many times I have watched this movie and i still am amazed with it. When there is a movie that catches my attention like that, then it is a fabulous movie. I am always looking for something that can keep my attention no matter how... read full review »

Wow.  Being a female, I never watched the original Transformers Cartoon back in the 80's.  I went to see the movie with my 8 year old son and my husband this past summer.  I was totally impressed.  The story line was wonderful and they way it was put together is great.  There is non-stop action, comedy, drama.  The sound effects, computer graphics and total picture is outstanding.  I left the theatre wanting to see more and more.  If you haven't seen 2007's Summer Blockbuster movie TRANSFORMERS you must!.  You won't be disappointed.

This movie will NOT disappoint! I am not a big sci-fi fan, but this movie was so much more! It has great comedic moments, some romance (but not too much for the men), and great action scenes! Even though it is sci-fi, for some reason it's believeable. The actors/actresses in this movie and great!  For the women, the action scenes aren't too much...it's great that there's no blood and guts flying around because these things are machines.  By the end of the movie you are wishing your car could transform!  Give this movie a chance and GO SEE IT!

We took our kids to see this movie and ended up loving it! Even my husband ( who isn't really "into" kids movies) enjoyed the film! The comedy was good and the characters are easy to relate to. The family favorite is the lovable "Bumblebee".His attachment to Shia LeBouf's character is a nice touch. The story goes at a good pace and I would recommend this as a show for anyone that has little boys or who grew up with Transformers!
