I have been buying Ming's Mandarin Orange Chicken now for about 5 years and found it to be restaurant quality. However, the last bag that I purchased in April 2016 was not the same as when I first started buying it. The chicken now has very little breading and instead of all breast meat, I believe there is dark meat mixed in. The chicken pieces are very small and the chicken taste very low quality. The excellent sauce that I have become accustomed to is now very tart and vinegary tasting. I have always raved to friends, family and other shoppers in the store about this "restaurant quality" product. I can no longer advertise this product to anyone and I will no longer purchase this chicken. It was a good run, but I guess all good things must come to an end.

It has always been so delicious and it still is. However, the chicken pieces are getting smaller and these get overcooked and hard. This is the #1 frozen meat at TJ's, I hope they will not cut corners here and give us something that closer resembles the picture on the package.

Trader Ming's (Trader Joe's) mandarin orange chicken is my absolute favorite go to meal when I'm in a hurry, forgot to plan ahead for dinner or want Chinese. Or a family member requests it. I always have a bag or two in my freezer, and once I use those bags to make dinner I go straight to Trader Joe's and purchase some more. The instructions on the packaging suggests that you bake it but I find in the summer months when I don't want to turn on my oven (and heat my house even further) I can throw it in my wok or fry pan and sauté it in a little bit of olive oil and it still comes out super delicious and crispy. The pieces are evenly coated, nice size chunks of white and dark chicken meat. I usually serve it on top of rice mixed with veggies. The sauce is so delicious! It's better than Panda Express! It's orangy glaze, not-too-sweet-but-oh-so-addicting yummy in my tummy!! PLEASE TRY IT!!! It won't disappoint. Even good reheated the next day, If you're lucky enough to have leftovers.

Simply put- I love this product! Not only is it easy to prepare, but it is tasty as well. My friends sister first recommended Trader Joe's Mandarin Orange Chicken to me because she was on the Atkins Diet and it was something she could eat. You just heat the precooked chicken pieces in the oven and, when done, add the sauce that is included. I cook the chicken a bit longer than suggested because I like it crispier. I also empty the sauce into a microwavable bowl and heat it up before coating the chicken with it. I have served this meal to my immediate family and also to guests. Perfect every time and perfect with fried rice!

I am not a cook, but I like to eat healthy foods and have them for my kids.  The Mandarin Orange Chicken from Trader Joe's is easy, cost-effective, and it comes with two sauce packets (we only use one which I find very efficient).  Instead of ordering Chinese food which would be fried, we bake this chicken and use less sauce and everyone enjoys it - plain, with rice or on a salad.
