Just Okay.

By

Comments about Trader Joe's Trader Joes Refresh Shampoo:

This shampoo is just okay -- nothing to write home about. It has a light, natural citrus scent that is pleasing, but the exfoliation power is definitely on the weak side. I felt like I needed to wash my hair twice through with this shampoo because once wasn't enough (and I have short hair). It almost feels like you are just washing your hair with scented water. This may be what some customers are looking for in a shampoo, but I find that one of the great joys in washing your own hair are the build-up of soapy suds that refresh and revitalize the scalp. It is surprising, because I usually really like the health and body products Trader Joe's has on the shelves. Perhaps it may do them some good to make a few tweaks to the recipe that won't compromise the great, natural ingredients involved. In the end, this shampoo just doesn't deliver -- leaving much to be desired. I would buy it again if they made a few changes.

Pretty good for a natural shampoo

By

from USA

Comments about Trader Joe's Trader Joes Refresh Shampoo:

I'm used to using natural shampoos by now, and this is actually my favorite of the ones I've tried. It's a good price, and for me, even with my long and thick hair, it lasts a while (but that's also because I only shampoo every other day to preserve my hair's natural oils).

Effectiveness
I gave it a seven because as far as shampoos in general go, it's not THAT great. There are suds and some foaming like a regular shampoo, but not as much and sometimes it's hard to spread it all around my hair. But for a natural shampoo, which are annoyingly ineffective in my experience, this actually works pretty well, especially for the price.

Scent
The scent is absolutely delicious! It actually kind of reminds me of the scent of Froot Loops, but somehow not in a gross way. It's just very pleasant and refreshing, without being overpowering. The scent doesn't exactly last, unfortunately, so you won't come out of the shower with your hair smelling like that.

Trader Joe's Refresh Shampoo is a decent shampoo

By

from USA

Comments about Trader Joe's Trader Joes Refresh Shampoo:

I used the Trader Joe Refresh Shampoo and Conditioner for about a year. I really like the subtle citrus scent and the affordable price. It worked decent for my hair, and I was fine with using it especially when I was planning to wear my hair up. I have thick wavy to curly hair, and I was finding that my hair was becoming tangled more and more. I have since switched to a shampoo that fits my hair needs better, but still use this shampoo occasionally.

Effectiveness
I have thick wavy to curly medium length hair. I nearly always wear my hair up, and am not that picky about how my hair looks down. I found this shampoo to be effective enough, and used it for about a year. However, I recently bought a more expensive shampoo targeted for curly hair that is a better match for my hair type. My hair started to seem a bit dull and easy to tangle when using the Refresh Shampoo and Conditioner, so it was time for the switch. I do still have a few bottles of this shampoo and will use it occasionally. I also use it for my young daughter, and it works fine for her hair.

Scent
I enjoyed the citrus scent of the shampoo. It is not normally a scent that I buy in a hair product, but I really liked a citrus shampoo that I tried at a hotel. I was excited to find this citrus shampoo at Trader Joe's. The scent is subtle, which I enjoy. It is not over powering, but there is enough of a scent to detect citrus.
