Trader Joe's Pomegranate & Blueberry Goodness!

By

from Charlotte, NC

Comments about Trader Joe's Pomegranate & Blueberry Flakes & Clusters Cereal:

I enjoy most all of Trader Joe's foods!!!  I LOVE eating healthy and shopping at Trader Joe's makes it easy!  Their Pomegranate & Blueberry Flakes & Clusters Cereal is healthy and tasty!  I love the whole grain cereal and all it's flavors, including rolled oats, blueberries, pomegranate, cherry powder and elderberry extract.  The prices for Trader Joe's cereals are LOWER than cereals sold at other grocery stores, and it is for sure healthier!  A single serving of this cereal (one cup) contains 210 calories with 20 calories from fat.  There are two grams total fat, zero cholesterol, 110 mg. sodium, 46 grams total carbs, four grams dietary fiber, ten grams sugars, and four grams protein.  In addition, there are 8% (D.V.) each Vitamin C and Iron and 2% Calcium.  Love the low-fat, love the taste, love the cost!

The great taste of a pomegranate that even I know how to eat!

By

from Oak Park, IL

Comments about Trader Joe's Pomegranate & Blueberry Flakes & Clusters Cereal:

I know it sounds silly but I've never been quite sure what to do with a fresh pomegranate.  When you open this attractive autumn fruit up, there is all this delightful red juicy stuff which I understand that I am supposed to eat but I never quite know what to do with all those **seeds** -- do I suck them clean and spit the seeds out?  **WHA?**  Perhaps because of this confusion, it only follows that I adore anything which delivers that great pomegranate flavor to me the easy way -- sauces, beverages, cocktails, etc.  Someone at Trader Joe's must be sympathetic to my quandary because they have come up with ***Trader Joe's Pomegranate & Blueberry Flakes & Clusters Cereal***.

Just opening the box is a great fruit-lover's experience as a delightful aroma wafts up comprised of not only whole wheat flour and rolled oats but also freeze-dried blueberries, pomegranate, cherry powder and elderberry extract.  The freeze-dried fruits are delightful, being not too hard but wonderfully chewy and flavorful.  The whole grain cereral is also good but I must also mention that here again we have a "crunch" quality which seems a bit contentious at times.  Some kind of grain in here seemed **awfully** hard but then again I am a bit nervous about biting down on hard things anyway.  As it turned out, I was able to polish off this cereal without undue mishap and with great gusto besides.

**STATS:**

A single serving (one cup) contains 210 calories with 20 calories from fat.  There are two grams total fat, zero cholesterol, 110 mg. sodium, 46 grams total carbs, four grams dietary fiber, ten grams sugars, and four grams protein.  In addition, there are 8% (D.V.) each Vitamin C and Iron and 2% Calcium.  I don't think you can really call this a low-calorie cereal as it is high in carbs but it is also low in fat and the sodium isn't bad either.

**TASTE TIP:**

After you pour your milk on ***Trader Joe's Pomegranate & Blueberry Flakes & Clusters Cereal***, take your own sweet time eating it.  The extra crisp here means that it can absorb some milk and soften up a little without getting soggy.  Also, I found that the cherry juice begins to turn the milk a lovely soft pink and lends it a great flavor of its own.
