While making the semi-annual trip to Trader Joe's last week, I decided to pick up several cans of their dog food because the foster pups and their momma seemed to be bored with the dry kibble that I've been feeding them. Included in my cart were a few cans of Trader Joe's Chunky Beef Dinner.
I'm not rich by any means, but I do go out of my way and spend the extra money to buy pet foods that don't contain mystery meat, by-products, corn, gluten, etc. This Trader Joe's Chunky Beef Dinner Canned Dog Food fits the bill as the main ingredients include beef, chicken, textured soy protein, animal liver, and a bunch of vitamin/mineral supplements. Aside from the good-quality ingredients, I also love the fact that a giant 22 ounce can of this Chunky Beef Dinner costs only $1.09. A can of a lower-quality food like IAMS or Science Diet costs the same, but it contains by-products *and* the can contains only 12 or 16 ounces.
Most importantly, the foster puppies and their momma absolutely love Trader Joe's Chunky Beef Dinner Canned Dog Food. None of them were eating as much as they should have been, but I still had a giant 35 pound bag of the dry kibble to get through. By mixing in only about 1/4 of a can of this canned food, their appetites perked up and they happily ate all of the kibble that I put out for them.
Really, the only negative aspect of this Trader Joe's Canned Dog Food is the fact that is available only in Trader Joe's shops. The closest one to the Jersey Shore (where I live) is about an hour and ten minutes away which means that it isn't easy for me to obtain. Still, this is a good-quality canned dog food at a reasonable price, so I will just continue to stock up on it during my periodic treks to the Trader Joe's shops.
