Tracfone Review Summary

One way to keep in touch for little cost is to use Tracfone Prepaid Phone Service. This phone service offers a means for individuals to own a cell phone and purchase service without spending a large sum of money and besides the cost, customers also like Tracfone Prepaid Phone Service for its good coverage, limited dropped calls, and ease of adding more cell phone time when you need it. Tracfone Prepaid Phone Service receives mostly positive comments from reviewers such as “Tracfone: When You Want to Keep in Touch on the Cheap” and “I Feel Safe and Secure Traveling- Great Service”. But there are those who feel Tracfone Prepaid Phone Service is overrated and inadequate, like one reviewer who says “Customer Service Completely Incompetant”. Thus, when all things are considered, Tracfone Prepaid Phone Service ranks as average overall, even though it does make a good Communication option for those who use their cell phone on a limited basis.

To the Point

My mom just wasn't using her cell phone so we canceled her service. Then she found herself one day without a phone. It was unplugged (don't ask!). I decided to buy her the Tracfone which my aunt also has and likes. This is a pay as you talk phone and perfect for my mom. I think it is perfect...

I like tracfone because you pay as you go, you buy minutes and pay as you use them, this phone is NOT for someone who talks a lot on the phone, money wise it wouldn't be worth it, this phone is for someone who just needs the phone for emergency purposes or brief conversations.  I am having trouble with... review »

Reading an article in the newspaper about a simple cell phone made me realize how much my parents like the Tracfone. It is a prepaid plan with no yearly contracts or activation fees. First, you have to purchase the phone which can vary in brands and cost up to $60. Then you have to buy phone cards which range from $20-$80, depending on how many units are bought. The number of minutes are on the phone screen, and when they run low, you can buy another card which is available in most major stores like Walmart or Target. After buying the card, you have to call a number or go on a website to activate...

We have been Tracfone customers for over six years now.  We bought our first phones when I was pregnant with our oldest child, because I wanted a way to reach my husband in case of emergency.  At that point, we weren't ready to leap into a full cell phone plan, when we weren't sure if we'd ever use the phones, so Tracfone was perfect.  The price was right, the phones worked well, and they gave us what we needed -- a way to make a phone call wherever we happened to be.

Every now and then we'll have the conversation -- "Are we missing out on something by not having phones through _____ (fill in...

I first signed up with Tracfone in May 2001, and they've never disappointed me.  I don't have dropped calls.  I have service nationwide.  My calls are crystal clear.

That being said, I don't use my cellphone a lot - - - but that's me - - I'm not a big phone person.  But I carry it so if my car breaks down when I'm traveling, I can call AAA.  Or if I'm meeting a friend for lunch and he's running late, I can call him.  When I buy 250 minutes for a year's service, I'm probably going to carryover minutes to the next year.  And that's when I call my buddy when I'm stuck in an airport and chat....

I used to think "I don't want a cell phone, I don't need to be in constant contact with everyone I know."  Then I started thinking "What if I got lost while driving or popped a tire or plowed into a snowbank?"  So, I broke down and spent fifteen bucks on something called a tracfone.  Now I'm really starting to like it.  I can call my Mom to check up on her and see how she's doing while I'm at work, well on break.  I feel good about my little pink Tracfone!

I like that I don't need a plan or monthly bill to use this phone.  So far I have not spent much money on calling cards because I don't...

I have been a Tracfone user since 2001, and I see no reason to change anytime soon.  The phone obviously has it's pros and cons, but it's perfect for someone like me.  Everyone I know uses a 'monthly plan' for their phones, so this is much cheaper than that, at least for me and my family.  I'm certainly not a person who uses my cell phone very often, but I use it a few times a week.  Here is my experience:

 * Use the current online deals to get the best value.  For $99 you get a phone, a year of service, and about 400 minutes of phone time. The current phone they have advertised (as of 12/07)...

After losing my engineering job, and forced to work security I could no longer afford regular phone service, so I tried Tracfone. I've had a couple different phones and all have done great! I got my phones with minutes for less than $20. If you're looking for a cheap phone service, and you're an occasional phone user Tracfone is a great option! I've had signals, even when others haven't.

The customer service isn't the greatest, but then again this seems to be a trend in America today. Outsource our jobs to save money, and customer service seems to go downhill in the process.

Tracfone is a...

Buyers beware.... Worst Service Ever!!!!!

I am on my third TracFone...

I had purchased this phone via their website. The first phone that I had received ... did not work. So after being on the phone with them 1 1/2 hours... the decided that they would replace me with a another one... which was refurbished!

Guess what? This one did not work either! Then they decided ...after a little over 2 hours on the phone with them... the decided to mail me a third... And surprise... this one does not work either! After being on the phone with them for a little over a 1/2 hour with them today, they told me that...

Tracfone has insanely poor customer service. They can not do simple tasks, put you on hold incessantly, and do not speak legible English.

I have been shipped 4 phones. We have spent countless hours on the phone just trying to receive a phone that worked  (two phones didn't work out of the box and one quit after 2 weeks, the newest works--so far) and to each phone activated due to technical issues. I had to correct the problems on their end with my ideas.

They are pulling their customer service reps from the bottom of the barrel. I would not recommend this company for prepaid cell phone...

I Bought a Tracfone last year from wal-mart, got home, went online to activate, said it was good to go. Tried calling the number I was supposed to have and got someone else's voicemail. Went back on the site, and literally every 5 minutes on the site it would say there is a problem with your phone, type in these several extremely long codes into your phone to resolve it. Well, needless to say it wasn't working that night. Next day called Customer service, I've never heard such lack of knowledge and incompetence in my life. After spending over an hour on the phone with the woman of her walking me... review »

I've been using Tracfone since I could remember. The great thing about the phones are that they aren't anything fancy! If you want to spend $300 on an iPhone so you can access the internet and whatnot, be my guest. Tracfone cell phones sell from $20 to $50, and they come in cool colors (ok, maybe black, silver, and pink). They are a breeze to use!  It's a pay as you go "contract," so it can be either light or heavy on your wallet.

Their customer service isn't the greatest. It's a hassle to call them. So, if I ever have a problem, i'll get someone to call them for me so I won't have to yell.

no gadgets,no fancy smanchy about this one.You get to choose what you want in phones, prices or how many minutes you would like to spend 20.00 to a year.Year is alittle pricey, tec support isnt that great at all, they do have plans you can get into whenever you forget about buying minutes, but if you dont use any minutes that month you are still charged. There plans are just not that great.Hard to add minutes also,if your not careful and push a wrong button you loose minutes. With this company I can honestly say buyer beware.

I recently looked around for another basic cell phone service & found out....the only way to get basic is to stick with TracFone.  I don't live on my cell phone, in fact I only use it a few times a month, I don't want to pay $30-$40 a month just so I can use 10-15 minutes of cell time.  The only complaint I have with TracFone is that I have to buy 60-minutes or more when all I need it 30.  Oh well.

Tracfone, is just expensive. It would be much cheaper to get a phone, with a one time monthly fee. Instead of having to add min. all the time! Yea u have to add min ALL the time. Very inconvient! I have it in case of emergencies only. But if I used it to talk on all the time..... Holey Katz!!
