Tracfone —
We have had a Tracfone for several years and were very happy with the plan since we only wanted it for "on the road" calling and brief messages. Lately, however, we have been very disappointed in the service....we simply don't get any service! As soon as we are more than 50 miles from home we get a message that says"searching for network" and it never does find a network. This has happened in areas where we know there is service available (like the Minneapolis airport area). I called from home to discuss the problem and was told to call back when I was somewhere where I was not getting service, so I did that and they still could not figure out the problem and I was told to call back again some time...well, I travel a lot and its very inconvenient to have to find a pay phone (land line) to make a half hour+ phone call. And meanwhile I am on the road without any service. Recently I traveled from Minneapolis to Milwaukee and had no service all the way, had sporatic service just north of Chicago, traveled to Nashville and had service for about a hour somewhere near the Indiana/Kentucky boarder and finally in Nashville I have service again. But this is not the kind of service they advertise or what I am looking for in a cell phone. If there is any way I can get my years subscription money back I am going to do so and switch to another brand of phone.
