I am a big lover of board games, as evident by the list of reviews I already have in that department. I love being able to sit down with a friend (or 2 or 3) and play games such as Risk, Monopoly, Scrabble, and many others. In the age of video games, are you a fan of boards games? If so, what are your favorites?

I really love trivia games and Scrabble, but my favorite is probably Huggermugger. It's an old game they don't make anymore, but you can find used ones on eBay.

I like Scrabble the best. There's also a strategy game called Blockus that is really good too.

we have a collection of board games, many are vintage (and we don't play them) but most are new. we're always on the lookout for a game we can play with our only child. she's currently 8 years old, so finding a game that is fun for everyone can be difficult.
i recommend "blokus" and its many spin-off games. it's simple and easy to learn, but depending on each person's strategy, can be a very challenging game. you can play with kids or just adults, and all intellect levels can compete on an even field. it's up to four players.
check it out at blokus.com. awesome game!

Oh I have been meaning to review Apples to Apples. Our daughter and son-in law have it and we played all weekend. I recently bought our own game. We love Cranium as well and the Mexican Train.

Scrabble, Upwords, Boggle, Trvial Pursuit, Clue if I can focus long enough to actually play it and the same with Monopoly. It's like, I love both but they take so long to play. GAH. I love Uno and we play all the time.
What's that one with the bubble in the middle and it spins the dice and you move forward and, if you land on someone's thingamajig, they go back to the start? Sorry? I like it.
And don't laugh but I like Operation! Haha. Not a board game but Perfection was one of my least favorite and most favorite games EVER. It scared the heck out of me when the thing sprung up tossing all the shapes all over. My brother refused to play after the first time the thing scared him. It is like a jack in the box, beat the clock, drive yourself crazy game. Fun. Nerve wracking. :)

We played Battleship and regular 'ol Monopoly when my son was young. He used to love that Hi Ho Cherry O' game as a kid too. We also played lots of Uno.

Monopoly is my favorite, but some have said they don't like playing it against me because of my cut-throat, capitalistic, bankrupt- my- opponent- quickly style of play.
That, and I always win.

But you make it sound so much fun when you describe it like that! :)

Scrabble, definitely! I used to play by myself sometimes when I was a kid! People hate to play me because I always win! Well, isn't that the whole point of playing a game... to win?
I also love electroic Battleship! My husband spent 10 years in the military and wanted this game so bad. Kicked his backside into next week! Now he does not want to play me anymore! What? Was I supposed to let him win?

Battleship and Connect Four, and Mancala are some good ones for me and the Mister. Usually it's just the two of us. He always ropes me into Risk. The longest movie I have ever sat through in a theater without starting to fidget and complain was 121 minutes, so the idea of spending hours and hours playing a board game even with breaks, coupled with the fact that I always lose... well no fun, but marriage includes making some sacrifices, so Risk it is.

Hi there, Everybody!
SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTING ALERT
This thread about favorite board games seems to have been so popular that I thought some of you might be interested in an article I wrote about "Classic Board Games Which Will Never Die!"
associatedcontent.com/article/2337796/classic_board_games_which_will_live.html?cat=37
As for my own favorites, I like Scrabble, Monopoly, Checkers, and Parcheesi.
