I know this labels me as a big geek, and when I was in my 20s and 30s I hardly ever crowed about it, but ever since my 15th birthday I've been a Star Wars figures collector.  I don't buy a lot of things these days, but I still enjoy displaying some of my collectible toys.

Do your kids - or you - collect any particular toys?  Board games? Toy cars? GI Joes?

my oldest son has a MASSIVE collection of Thomas the Train. He's grown out of it now (he's into Mario now). He has DVDs, plastic trains, bedding, pillows, die cast metal trains, books, puzzles, costume, wall decals, clothes, shoes, and I'm sure there's more that I just can't think of!

My son collects antique cars that he plays with as well as displays.  My daughter has a doll collection of antique dolls in a curio cabinet.

My husband has a collection of German made train sets (He grew up in Germany).  I don't know the name of them but we set them up on a train table for the Chirstmas season and enjoy them.  The kids are just as Happy with the Thomas the Train train set but my "biggest child" loves his electric train set.

I've got a friend who collects everything. Whether it's Star Trek, Star Wars, DC Comics characters, Teenage Mutant Teenage Turtles....if there are figures made, he has them.

My 24 year old son collects swords of all things. But only certain types. He has a beautiful collection which is displayed and never used for anything. I think it started with his ninja sword when he was really little and he has been enamored ever since. I hated the thought of him having a sword when he was around 17 but he was always responsible and it wasn't too sharp. Later, he got into the collectibles.

The 19 year old collects crazy stuff. He's a Dungeons and Dragons player and loves those 20 sided dice. He has "stuff' but I don't know what it is. All I know is if I touch any of it, I get yelled at and told that it's worth tons of money.

I collect jeans and shoes. And makeup. Lots and lots of everything. lol. My actual two things I really do love are hummingbirds of any kind and dream catchers. Those I really do collect. Hummingbird ANYTHING ends up coming home with me! I have cellphone cases, T shirts, tons of crystal, glass, mushroom, and other types of hummingbirds, pictures, and I actually want a tattoo of one. Yeah I'm old but I still want it!

The closest thing I have to a sword is my grandfather's made-in-Spain letter opener.  It looks like a miniature sword, complete with a leather and brass scabbard.

Otherwise, my weapon of choice is my Electronic Lightsaber!

I collect Percy, The Small Engine from the Thomas the Tank Engine Series. I love Percy. I am small and cheeky just like him. Maybe in another life I was a "green caterpillar with red stripes."

My husband has the whole Star Wars the roleplaying game books. I can hear him watching Star Wars in the next room...

Gotta love the British for coming up with those character names.

Brit-speak, by the way, is almost as strange as military lingo.  For instance, when I first heard of "Thomas the Tank Engine" some time ago, I thought that it was odd that a children's book would be all about a tank engine.

I was, of course, thinking military tank (along the lines of Sherman, Pershing, Patton and Abrams tanks) and not thinking about railroads at all.  (I must also add that though I was born in the States and therefore a U.S. citizen, I spent my first few school years abroad and thus didn't get to read the Thomas books in grade school!)

Hi Fardreamer :)

I collect Happy Meal Toys, not all of them though.  I started in late 1995.

That's cool that you collect Star Wars figures ~ !

I also seem to collect bottles of perfume LOL

Ha ha Fardreamer - a military tank? My husband was a tanker in the Army. I have seen an actual "tank engine" (which they call the Power Pack). I wouldn't really be interested in reading a children's book about those.  XD

I can't really say why I knew he was a train. I am not British either.

Yeah, we are separated by a common language... also an ocean.  :P

My 8 yr old daughter collects petshops, now she is too old to play with them anymore so they are a collection. I don't officially collect anything but I have a wide assortment of teas, a whole cabinet filled with all different teas. Anyone want to come over for a pot?

Maybe the book had Thomas on the cover?  That would be my guess.

And yeah, I was precociously interested in all things military when I ran across the first mention of Thomas the Tank Engine.
