I've had my Yaris (4 door sedan AT) for about 2 months now. I use to have a Town & Country, so I realize there is a huge difference in comfort. Also, I guess my expectations of Toyota were much too high because I am not happy with the value. We lease the car and the payments aren't cheap. I regret not taking more time to shop around. Anyway, I am disappointed with a few cosmetic things, the handling and the gas mileage. I do drive mostly highway and am getting less than 30 mpg. I drive the speed limit so it's not my driving. I also feel like it sways too much on the highway. I thought there might be something wrong with it and brought it in for service, but I don't think they even tried to find the problem. The stereo speakers rattle and vibrate sometimes and again the service people said they couldn't duplicate the problem. The stereo screen is hard to see also, there always seems to be a glare. The cupholder is a pain, it blocks the air vent and doesn't hold the cup or bottle upright tightly. I Like I said overall I am disappointed, for a Toyota I expected more.

Automobiles and gasoline must be less expensive wherever you live. And you must not have been around when Corolla first came out. The Corolla is relatively more expensive now because it did live up to it's expectations. They use to be the least expensive Toyota you could buy. Asking people to lower thier expectations does not help in reviewing a product. If you want a cheap car, go with Kia or Hyundai.

I have a 6 year loan. I fill up once a week. About 340 miles a week, I reset every time I fill up and the mileage has remained constant give or take a few.. Corolla, less expensive? Corollas are $15k to $19k. Yaris is $11k to $14k.

Your $200 per month is deceiving. Unless you have a 7+ year loan, you are paying more than that. And $30 per week is also misleading...you can't be driving very much. I use atleast 20 gallons per week, most of it highway. I'm still averaging 30mpg. I stand by my rating. If you have ever driven the less expensive Toyota Corolla, you would understand what I am saying. The quality of the Yaris is not comparable. When I chose the Yaris, I trusted that Toyota meant quality. Not anymore.

What I do not understand is how you are only getting 30 mpg. The least I ever get is 33 and the most has been about 35. But unless you have looked around at current fuel efficient cars, the Yaris has the most mpg you can get on gas. The sticker always estimates a higher mpg. Could you really expect more for a car that costs less than 14k brand new? I pay $200 a month for my Yaris and I only spend $30 a week in gas. Can you find another car on the market that can do that?....no, sorry. Your expectations are too high for what the markets can give you right now. Apart from driving a 2 seater, 5 cylinder smart car that costs more than 20k (with no room, and a 500lb weight limit)....I think The yaris is as far as you can stretch a gallon of gas for the time being. Even hybrids don't get mileage that good.
