We considered a Honda Odyssey but the 8th seat is a very small child size fold up seat. We needed and adult sized seat. I purchased the Toyota Sienna for one reason only.... A full size 8th seat. No matter what we are doing we were always ONE seat short. Sure their are SUV's out there that seat 8 and some of them 9 people but with half the gas mileage the van gets. We are a family of 5. We are always on the go with the kids who always need to bring a friend along. When we had our 7 passenger van. One of our kids couldnt bring someone. Now they all can have a friend with them. I also pick up and drop off someones kids from school just about everyday. I cant count how many times we were always one seat short. So someone would have to find another ride even though we would be riding right by there home.
As for the van itself. I love it. I purchased it in Silver. I paid 2000.00 extra for the summer touring package. A 10" Dvd in the roof, Back up camera, Sienna branded floor mats throughout, lights in the storage areas, cargo net. I dont know how I ever got along without that back up camera. I love not having to constantly turn around in my seat to back up. The dvd player is worth its weight in gold on a long trip. We hook the Playstation 2 up to it and it keeps the kids busy for hours. Ahhhhh No arguing an are we there yets every 5 minutes.
The only thing I dont like about my can is that the middle seats do not fold into the floor like the Dodge Caravan. They do come out but its a pain to lug them in and out. The back 3 seats do fold into the floor.
All in all the van is fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone.
