Toyota Prius - 2004 Review Summary
If easy handling, great gas milage and style appeal to you, then our reviewers think that you will love the 2004 Toyota Prius. One practical buyer says that the Toyota Prius is "Cost-efficient, gas-efficient, well-designed and easy to drive". But that's not all, "the fact that it's surprisingly roomy cannot be stressed enough" says another reviewer, "we've put lots of luggage, bicycles, a drum kit, and furniture in the car to move, and it's performed flawlessly: the trunk space is quite roomy. The main complaint? The 2004 Toyota Prius has some significant blind spots, so be extra alert when changing lanes. Want to compare? Please do! We've got many more

We bought our Prius to replace a 1990 Dodge Dakota truck, so there was a definte change in the type of driving. I was driving 50 miles one way to work then, so the more than doubling in miles per gallon was noticed right away (gas was about 1.70/ gallon then). — — The one aspect of the Prius that surprised me was its acceleration. It's not a sports car, but it will get up and go much better than my truck with a bigger engine ever would. — — There are two negatives we have with the Prius, but neither would stop us from buying another one. First are…

commuter, willing to pay for quality, cares for the environment
There's little to say about the 2004 Prius that hasn't already been said. While the gas mileage is surely a plus, for me an even bigger plus is the almost-zero emissions this car puts out. The fact that it's surprisingly roomy cannot be stressed enough: my family includes males of height 6'4", 6'6", and 6'9", and all four of us can fit comfortably into the Prius with legroom to spare. We've put lots of luggage, bicycles, a drum kit, and furniture in the car to move, and it's performed flawlessly: the trunk space is quite roomy. It has a fantastic turning radius, and…

fuel-conscious, cares for the environment, interested in good gas mileage, cost-conscious, willing to pay for quality, Dog Owner
I love this car. I have about 50,000 miles on it now, averaging 44 mpg in my hilly neighborhood and traffic light areas, may go to 53 mpg on hwy. — The car is big enough for the 2 of us and our 3 rather large dogs, plus luggage in the hatchback. Quite an attention getter as gas prices go up. — No mechanical problems so far. — I had to get rubber floor mats and a cover for the back seat to keep the dog fur off the light colored upholstery. — I can drive the Prius without feeling guilty since it has terrific gas mileage.…

The Toyota Prius is a fabulous car. Cost-efficient, gas-efficient, well-designed and easy to drive. There is a wonderful remote entry and ignition that one can purchase, and it makes life so easy! I bought my car very nearly sight-unseen. I had never driven one and had only read about its operation and efficiency. I had to wait six weeks to get the car I chose, but it was well worth the wait. I'll never drive anything but a hybrid again and it will most likely be made by…

fuel-conscious, cost-conscious, interested in good gas mileage, willing to pay for quality, interested in comfort, a person who enjoys quality
I've owned this car since 2004 and have gone over 35,000 miles so far. The only maintenance I've had so far is 3,000 mile oil changes. It is as comfortable as a Lexus LS400 that I owned, in fact I have even slept in it overnight. Very quick acceleration since both the gas and electric motors kick in when needed. Overall my gas mileage has averaged 49 with regular gas. Rear seats fold down for extra room and it has 4 doors and a…

This car is great. It sips gas and it does pretty well on acceleration. The smart key is pretty neat, just leave it in your pocket and press the power button. Also, since this car is so hot, the resale value has only decreased by about $1000 per year. …
