Disappointing mileage

interested in good gas mileage, a pet owner, concerned about safety

Toyota Highlander - 2007 — 

I was so excited to get the Highlander Hybrid since I put a lot of miles on my vehicles and saving gas was a big goal.  I love the HIghlander bodystyle but am very disappointed in the mileage - not even close to what was advertised .  Sticker was 31 city/27 highway and we're lucky to get 26 combined.   If I had to do it over again, I'm not sure I'd buy it.
