When looking to buy a small SUV late in 2005, I started my research. The features I required were many cupholders and a tape-deck/CD player. My husband laughed, but I still listen to my old tapes. The 2006 Toyota Highlander fit the bill, and we have been very happy with it. I only have 2 complaints and they are minor: 1) The speedometer is in 10's instead of 5's, which requires me to think a little more when deciding if I am speeding. (Like I said, minor complaints) 2) At low fan, the air or heat still seems a bit high. Another funny quirk it has is occasionally balking and then surging suddenly when driving after stopping at a light. However, it makes up for this by its great acceleration power, which it is known for.
Our particular vehicle can seat 7 if the rear seat is raised up. However, the passengers on the back seat better be legless or children, because there is NO legroom. We knew this buying the vehicle, and it has not been a big problem. Cargo area is great, and the interior is roomy. Parking is very easy, and this vehicle drives like an extension of myself. Oh, and if you are wondering, there are 10 cupholders, though the 2 on each of the back seat doors are really only for bottles, because when you shut the door, cups can splash badly. This has been a great vehicle for us for the past 3 years, with little to no maintenance. I absolutely love it and would highly recommend it.
