Toyota Corolla - 2003 —

This was my first brand new car. I spent weeks looking at and test driving cars. This was the one I loved. It has the most comfortable seats, for my back, whether driving or riding, and I have ridden in a Jaguar,BMW, Cadillac and a host of less expensive cars. I could have bought what I wanted and this was it.

I have a basic car. No power windows, just an automatic, with power steering, and brakes. (what doesn't have those these days) The sound system is basic but good. I have driven it within 3 weeks of total hip replacement, and as soon as I was allowed to do much of anything after back surgery. I can get in and out easily and be more comfortable in it than in some of the chairs in my home.

My husband who is considerably taller than I, finds the drivers seat a bit tight and needs the seat all the way back to be comfortable. So I am not recommending this Toyota for pro basketball players, or giants.

It gets good gas mileage. I average about 32-33mpg. I have spent less than $200 on repairs. Routine maintenance is not premium priced. When I want to go some where it goes.

The only annoyance I find is occasionally when I go to start the car the key won't turn. This must not be new as the owners manual addresses it. You just turn the steering wheel back and forth a bit, once or twice and the key turns just fine. It's an odd quirk but I guess that's personality.
