    DVD stops when recording stops, can't add to record list easily

I thought a Toshiba brand unit would be outstanding. The VCR records and plays as does the DVD. I am still using VCR recording because I want to tape and re tape rather than save. I have had dual VCR/DVD but this is the first one that has stopped the DVD player when the VCR stops. It is really frustrating. Not only does the DVD player stop, it returns the DVD to the original menu so you have to search for where you were when it stopped. Quality of recording is pretty good but I wouldn't buy it again.

I tried to get to that on the set up menu but it won't go to finalize. that part is gray and won't be selected. very frustrating. I would never buy one of these again. My go video doesn't do that.

You have the machine programmed to shut down rather than stay on for next command. If you have auto finalize in the on position, it will indeed finalize the disc, then shut down ...assuming the user is not in the room or may be away from the current project.
