Toshiba Satellite Laptop —

This Toshiba Satellite laptop computer is only two years old.  For the past three months it has been overheating after having been on for only a few minutes.  It shuts itself off, has to cool down, then must be restarted again.  The fan is definitely defective.

I had the same problem with mine; try using a program to monitor the temp while you're using it, and see if the temp goes any higher shortly before it shuts off. Mine never did, and I found out the problem was not overheating but rather the outlet I had it plugged into. The outlets at our house have all been tested, and the laptop should work on them all equally, however there is only 1 that it never has any problems with. (I've never had any problems with outlets while traveling, tho.) If you normally use your laptop while it's plugged in, try experimenting with diff. outlets in your home and see if the spontaneous shutdown continues. Give it at least a 30 min break each time it shuts off.
