My old pioneer unit stopped working and needed a replacement in a pinch. This unit fit the bill, cheap and super easy to hook up. It has a choice of five speed, which is maybe more than you need one hour, two hour, 4 hour, 6 hour, and 8 hour. The eight hour speed is a little grainy, the six hour speed is ok. The one touch recording button is super smooth. on some units thats a touchy feature. It also is a very quiet unit compared to my older one, which you could distintly hear running. I am not a fan of the finalization screen which is very plain. The are no graphics to choose from when creating the menu for you dvd. It plays dvds well and a has a good picture for regular playback. The time is also easy to set. One word of warning is that this unit does not have a tuner. You may have to have a a cable box or in my case a old unit with a tuner. But, the lack of a tner keeps the price down. Good machine overall.
