Comments about Toshiba - DVD Player/Video Cassette Recorder SD-V296KU:
Lightening struck our house so it was time for a new DVD player. I prefer to have DVD player and VHS player combo because we still have a LOT of VHS tapes that I like to play for my daughter- no sense in getting rid of them, right? This model was highly recommended but I am not sure I would buy it again if we had to replace it. The biggest drawback is that there is not a tuner in this model so when it is hooked up to our receiver and home theater system, we can only listen to the surround sound while watching a video on DVD or VHS. The tv has to be our primary tuner which is a definite drawback. Other than that operation is fairly simple and okay to use. The remote is easy to understand it responds pretty well and plays dvd's and vhs tapes well. We haven't had it long enough to discuss the quality or how long it will last, but hopefully we will have this player a long time and will be able to replace it, when the time comes with a model that has a tuner. You don't realize how much you miss it until you can't watch Football in surround sound!
