This television will not last

My Toshiba 32 inch Flat Screen HD Television was great for the first year I owned it. This television was easy to set up, the picture was clear, and the sound was amazing. I was very pleased with this television. Once evening, I went to turn my Toshiba on to watch one of my favorite shows and it would not turn on. I tried unplugging it and plugging it back in and it still did not work. I called the company, but it was not under warranty any longer. I knew it would cost me more to repair this television than it would to purchase a new one so I replaced my Toshiba television with another brand. I never determined the cause of the electronic failure in my television. I did research the issue a little more and it seems to be a fairly common issue with this specific television. I would not recommend purchasing this television. While the picture and sound quality are good, it is not likely going to be something that will last for a long period of time.

Love my Toshiba!

We love everything about our Toshiba flat screen television. Picture Quality The picture quality on Toshiba televisions is remarkable. It is crisp and clear and the detail and colors are amazing! I was literally blown away by how much superior the flat screen HD televisions are compared to our old televisions. Sound Quality The sound quality of our Toshiba HD television is superior to other television brands we have owned in the past. The volume control is easy to use and control. Durability We have had our Toshiba television set for eight years and have never had any issues with it. It is easy to clean and very sturdy. I have bought other brands of television sets that had malfunctions and needed maintenance after only a few short years. Design I love the design of the Toshiba flat screen HD television. It is sleek and simple in design and very functional. We have our Toshiba TV set in an entertainment center but it can also be easily mounted to a wall. Performance I highly recommend the Toshiba HD television set to anybody who is looking for a high quality TV set at a fair price.

I am a big fan of this tv.

This television is excellent. It is amazing because the picture is so clear. We currently have this television set up in our den and it has been a great entertainment piece for so many of our guests. I think that the size is perfect for nice medium-sized rooms just because thirty-two inches is not extremely huge, but at the same time you don't have to squint to be able to see what is going on in the television show or game. In addition, the fact that it is flat-screen only makes it even better, because where we have the television set up is not a large platform, and it does not take up a lot of space at all. The price was good and we have not had one problem with it yet so far. Hopefully this continues to be the case. Picture Quality The HD is phenomenal. It is so good that we can see the sweat on the actors and actresses' faces on the shows, and even small details in their makeup. Sound Quality The television gets nice and loud if needed. Durability We haven't dropped it or anything, but it has been sturdily standing since we got it.

Comparison: our first Toshiba vs. Sony flat screen

5

My mother wanted a TV in her bedroom, and as my family likes to do, we like to stick to certain brands. Sony is our go-to for TV but Sony flat screen TV's have been almost non-existent in the market lately. So she decided to get a Toshiba, another Japanese brand, and this particular TV she has was made in Japan. The Toshiba flat screen 32 in tv is very very good and surprised all of us. It is a tad pricier than the China-made or Korean made TV's but quality has been consistent. TV is easy to operate with a easy to use remote (unlike a Sony 32 in one we have). By this, the remote is simpler to navigate. The picture quality is just as good, if not, better than a Sony. It does lack choices of language modes, screen size modes compared to the Sony 32 in. flat screen. Also unlike the Sony, the viewing range of which was almost 180 degrees, this one seems much more limited to me. I dont know if it is because of how elevated the TV is but I dont feel I can watch the TV in 'extreme' angles as I can with my Sony 32 inch TV. Otherwise besides the minor negative mentioned, the Toshiba 32 in. HD flat screen TV is really good in picture quality and easy to use. It is an energy saver and doesnt heat easily. Also it has a touch-screen on-off panel which I later discovered. Yes, as with most TV's nowadays it is computer-compatible. Though it is higher in price than Vizio, etc tv's out there, I would still recommend this if you want a TV from a good reputable company.

Thought my Toshiba would last longer...

I thought when you buy a TV it was suppose to last a good 10 years or longer. I guess I was wrong. We bought our Toshiba flat screen TV from a reputable TV/furniture store locally and used it like a normal family. After about 7 years the picture died on it. Just as we are watching it it goes out. The volume is still there, but NO picture. Called about service and it isn't worth it to replace the picture in it. Makes me mad nothing is made like it use to be. I thought I was buying a good brand, Toshiba and maybe they are only suppose to last 7 years... doesn't seem long enough to me for how much we paid for it. While the TV did work the sound was great, but sometimes there were little white specks on the screen and it wasn't perfectly clear. We had cable when viewing.

Toshiba has one of the worst TV's on the market today.

When looking for a large flat screen HDTV, look the other way if you see a Toshiba 32", Model number 37AV502U.  The sound quality, (provided by Dolby), is so poor, that even at maximum volume, the TV cannot be heard.  Perhaps it is a clever trick to get you to purchase a Toshiba surround sound system.  What ever the case may be, if you cannot read lips you will never know what is being said by those fuzzy creatures on the screen. Did I say "FUZZY"?  Why, yes I did.  That's right, add to the dismal sound quality, poor picture quality, and you have the makings of one of the worst TV's on the market.  There is no amount of adjusting that can clear up the picture on this television.  Even the color adjustment is unacceptable. The functions of this TV are just as irritating as its' sound and picture problems.  If you, like me, want to have a full screen, and set the TV for the full screen while watching a program on one station, do not turn the channel.  Every time the channel is turned, you have to go back in and reset the screen size. As for turning the channel - if you use the up and down buttons to get from one channel to the next, be prepared for a wait.  It does not automatically go from one channel to the next at lightning speed, as we are all accustomed to.  It takes approximately five seconds for the channel to change.  Five seconds may not seem like much, but just take a moment here and count it out.  One Mississippi, Two Mississppi, Three Mississppi, Four Mississippi, Five Mississippi.  It is near maddening! To top it off, the connection outlets on the TV that hook our DVD, VCR, and game systems into the Television are on the side of the TV.  They are not located in the back of the Television, where the cords for our electronics can be kept out of sight.  On the contrary, the cords stick straight out of the side of the Televison.  For those who are unconcerned about appearance, this probably holds little concern.  However, for those who want a sleek look to their TV system, just know that there is no hiding this "Big Ugly." I cannot say if all of Toshiba's models are this bad, I can only attest to this specific TV.  It is an inexpensive televison.  Just remember, you get what you pay for.
