Topamax  —

I tried topamax for head pain and the posibility that it might get rid of extra spinal fluid around my brain (wich is why I have the chronic headaches). Topamax is also known to be a type of dieretic. All it did was make spacey, very tired, and weak.
I agree I've heard great things about it helping migraines, but if your head pain is from a different problem, it won't work very well, or not at all in my case. It didn't do either thing, get rid of fluid or help my pain.
I took it a second time 1 year later, to help my anxiety because it really works well at meelowing you out, although I experienced different side effects this time.
I couldn't handle the tingling in my hands. I could barely hold a coffee cup anymore after a month of being on it..and at only 80 mg.
The first time I took it I went up to 200 mg which gave me hallucinations and panic atacks.
The second time I wasn't on a high enough dose for this to happen. In my opinion, this drug can really mess with your brain, and sometimes those dise effects won't ever go away fully even after being off the drug for months.
I won't ever take it again.

That is awful. I hope you find something that works for you!

Sorry you went through that. I live with chronic pain. Don't think I'll ever try this. What you shared here will help others. Thank you.

In response to Telpher's comment from Apr 6, 2008 at 7:02PM:

Glad I'm not the only one who became unstable and panicky at times from this drug.
Since then, I'd tried small doses, it does work to mellow me out and calm me down instead of
using vallum..but I still don't think it's worth the risks.
Thanks for the message!

I had the same side effects from Diamox (a related drug I was taken for reasons similar to what you describe), and the disorientation scared the heck out of me. I was really upset that I hadn't been given enough information about possible side effects.
