The 10 Worst Movies I have Ever Seen

  1. Manos: The Hand of Fate - This movie is only bearable when watched in the Mystery Science Theater 3000 version.  Everything about it is plain awful.  I have seen home videos of gradeschool stage plays that are better.
  2. Cloverfield - Almost as awful as Manos but with improved special effects.  The fact that you only get fleeting glimpses of said special effects through very poorly done camera work makes all the more terrible.  I get it that the film was supposed to be discovered "raw" footage but it sure is hard to watch.  This film is proof of the need for film editors.
  3. Shane - I like westerns just fine, but not this one.  The acting is poor even by low budget 1950's westerns standards.  Every time I see that movie, I get the screech of the little boy yelling for Shane stuck in my head.  It's even more annoying than listening to a parrot squak.
  4. On Golden Pond - Quite possibly the most boring movie ever made.  I fell asleep the first time I saw it.
  5. A River Runs Through It - When the highlight of a movie is the "gripping" fishing sequence where they fish for fake trout, you know it's a bad movie.
  6. Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat - I hate musicals in general.  This one is the worst I've been made to suffer through.  It's made all the worse by the fact that the story of Joseph in the Bible is a good story that teaches important lessons and is part of the Word of God.  That didn't stop these guys from screwing it up royally though.
  7. Veggie Tales movies - Speaking of screwing up the Word of God, how these films get classified as Christian, I'll never know.  Their films that parody secular stuff like Batman, Indiana Jones and Sherlock Holmes are slightly more tolerable, but when they parody books of the Bible it borders on heresy.  Their versions are so different from the actual stories in the Bible, they are barely recognizable.  Plus, their songs are really stupid.
  8. Austin Powers - I like spoofs of spy movies just fine.  I thought the Pink Panther, Get Smart and The Tuxedo for example, were really funny parodies of spy movies.  Austin Powers on the other hand is just insulting.  The "jokes" are gross, bathroom humor that make me cringe instead of laugh.
  9. Batman and Robin - I love Batman comics and certain cartoons and movies but after Batman Returns, the Batman movie sequels took a turn for the surreal in a very bad way.  Batman and Robin is the epitome of the bad Batman sequel.  The only saving grace of these terrible Batman movies were some of the performances of the actors playing the villians.  I loved Tommy Lee Jones as Two Face.
  10. Spider-man 3 - Spidey is my favorite Marvel comicbook hero.  That is what makes Spidey 3 all the more terrible.  The first two Spidey movies were great, so expectations for #3 were sky high.  Unfortunately, #3 failed to even come close to them.  It was too busy, too confusing and the few good bits got lost in the clutter.
