I thought it may be fun to try a different kind of review-- a listing of my top film choices. As you will see, it is a pretty eclectic mix-- like me. I like all different kinds of things: drama, horror, asian film, comedy, kids movies, etc. (Action isnt necessarily my thing). I guess the… read full review »

A Baker Dozen of the Greatest, most essential movies all time.  Part 1 of 2 13.   REAR WINDOW  1954   Alfred Hitchcock — Rear Window can be enjoyed as a slightly dark, slow building thriller featuring one of Jimmy Stewarts most interesting performances as a bored, wheel chair bound adventurer and travel/writer/photographer who has gotten addicted to spying on his his neighbors.   He sees something disturbing in one apartment and wonders if some foul play, perhaps even a murder has taken place. His fiance' the very beautiful and sexy Grace… read full review »

Eight years ago, I posted this list of favorite comedies on Epinions. Every one of these is a five-star experience, and I don't expect my love of these moves to ever change. By no means is this a list in order of preference. I hope you will enjoy these recommendations: — 1. Annie Hall - This is a great film about life, love, and turning forty. The story is told in a stream of consciousness style, as if Woody Allen's character, Alvy Singer, were personally invited to someone's home to tell his life story. Alvy manages to find the humor in every situation. Just remember -… read full review »

My Ten Favorite Classic Dramas — — I happen to like dramas. These are my picks as the great ones that anybody could benefit by watching. I could have substituted or added many other great films, but I purposely limited myself to ten so that I would have to make the tough calls... — — My criteria for advancing these films as the best ten dramas are these; Acting, Direction, Story, Cinematography, and Score. These ten films have it all and should be part of every viewer's video library. — — Best Espionage Film: The Spy who came in from the Cold -… read full review »

Well, hello, Viewpoints readers. As this is my first review here, I thought I should say hi. I have not always loved movies. I was more of a stuck-in-the-same-rut tv viewer. But when I married, I happened to marry a movie guru, so movies have become a much loved part of my life. —  My tastes in movies change as much as the weather in Wyoming, but the ones that I love stay with me. Here are my favorites. — 1. Dragonfly starring Kevin Costner. Not only does this film have a strong, yet not traditional love story it also has a twist of a little creepiness. Of course, after… read full review »

Following the lead of others, I've decided to list the 10 DVDs that get played over and over in my household, in no particular order: — Boogie Nights - a gorgeous snap shot of 1970s, pre-AIDS America, when porn looked as if it had a snowball's chance in hell of making it as mainstream entertainment. Surprisingly touching and warm, considering the subject matter...this film really brings home the message that all those tacky porn industry folks of the 70s were people. Misfits, but people, nonetheless. — Magnolia - Ok, so you can tell I've got a thing for P.T. Anderson. He's pretty… read full review »

This is tough. I've tried to pick a personal Top 10 on occasion and been asked to do the same by friends and family members. Not easy. Picking a Top 100 would help, but even that list would fill up in a hurry. I probably see about 100 movies a year at the movie theater (not counting rentals - I don't rent - or anything seen on pay TV). I'm a huge fan. All types of genres. So choosing only ten is an almost impossible task. I could probably fill that short list with only movies by Hitchcock, or Billy Wilder, or John Ford or William Wyler. Spielberg would make a dent. The easiest way to do this… read full review »

My number one will always be #1 because it's the first movie I ever wanted to see again. — #1 - Dream a Little Dream.  With corey fieldman and corey haim.  I was never into swooning over movie stars or any intangable, but the charisma that they both gave off, mixed with the story that plays with imagination and interacts with your mind.  Love it! — #2 -Matrix trilogy, — #3 XXX (triple X) with vin diesel, #4 the pacifier (with vin diesel, :-)!...ok anything vin diesel, — #5 The Love letters (Hallmark movie), I like travel through time… read full review »

1.   A cult film classic,  a kind of movie only released once a lifetime, Jay and Silent Bob strike back.  Kevin Smith is a comedic genious and the one liners are some of the best ive ever heard. — 2.   Super Troopers.  I remember going to this movie on opening day.  A couple of buddies and myself took off of work early and witnessed one of the funniest opening scenes in movie history.  All three of us were litterly in tears from the first 10 minutes of the movie.  It even lasted the rest of the next week.  Even though the last half… read full review »

1.  Scarface-I've watched this movie over 30 times and still love it.  It's the story of opportunity in America and the lesson of over indugence.  Al Pachino does a great job in making you live out his life as a immigrant turned gangster.  This film is very grafic and the language is terrible.  I prefer to watch it on TV, not sure if they have a tuned down version? —  2.  The Shawshank Redemption-  Second most watched movie for me.  A story of perseverence and never giving up.  A good lesson to be learned. —  3.  The… read full review »

THE NOTEBOOK - one of the best out there.  i would recommend it to anyone.  when i hear the name Noah....instant chills.  — — GREASE - time just makes this movie better.  there's not a person out there who would dislike this movie.  it's the bomb!  Definite classic, great actors.  it's fun, it's sad, it's lyrical.  wonderful flick — — THE OUTSIDERS - What can I say?  I still get tears everytime I see it.  All star cast.  It will be a movie for all because it relates to any generation of youth.  if you were… read full review »

I am not usually a list person and movies is not where I thought I would start, however it is very interesting.  I would not consider myself a movie buff, but I know what I like and I know what I don't.  This list is not for everybody, but I think it is great.  I pulled my list from movies I could watch at any time and love... — 10.Oceans 11 and 13(George Clooney and Matt Damon in one movie, how could this not be great) — 9.  The Prestige (Great Story) — 8.  Grumpy Old Men (Classic and Funny.  I like it even more know that in real life those 2… read full review »

I am a lifelong Movie Buff...was introduced to classic films by my parents (and the annual showings of "The Wizard Of Oz" on TV, which was someting almost as anticipated as a birthday, Halloween, and Christmas).  I also grew up joyously seeking out whichever Disney Classic happened to be playing...(remember when they came back every seven years so each new generation could rediscover them on a big screen?)..I was a member of the last generation to get to see "Song Of The South" before Disney buried it out of a bogus attempt to be P.C. (such a shame and a waste...so much joy and… read full review »
