It's a stepper, it's a vehicle, it's the Rock n' Roll Stepper!

Overall
Rated 2 out of 5

Quick  View: The Tony Little Rock 'n Roll Stepper is OK but the thing travels across the room. Unless you have a (carpeted) gym to workout in, you'll find yourself slamming into walls or ending up in a different room when using the stepper. It's cheap for a stepper for good reason.About the Tony Little Rock 'n Roll StepperThis stepper is designed to work laterally as opposed to just up and down like ordinary steppers. The problem with this is that is not a natural way to move our legs and the knees take a big hit. If you have weak knees or any other knee issues, do NOT even try this. I had knee surgery years ago and my knee is fine now but this stepper still made my knee ache. The Lateral Thigh Trainer is actually less tough on the knees than this stepper. The stepper comes assembled. It's a simple little thing with a small computer in the middle that counts calories, reps, steps per minute, calories burned, and times how long you have been on it. It comes with a small patch of rubbery stuff to put down under the stepper but that in no way stops the thing from shimmying across the room. The instructions say to use the stepper only on carpeted floors but that didn't stop mine from taking a walk as I tried to workout. There are two workouts, with three exercise level workouts, included which are typical Tony Little fare. He's totally frenzied and annoying as usual but these do show different ways to use the stepper to get cardio and strengthening benefits. From what I can tell, the Tony Little Rock 'n Roll Stepper **is not the most well made piece of equipment. It squeaks and has a slightly strange odor. I thought I was burning my rug when I first used it but I wasn't, It's just the weird scent that comes from the stepper. That's tolerable though.Does it work?** Yes, my legs did feel the workout and I was somewhat sore after I used the stepper. However, I couldn't get a good pace going because I was moving all over the room. The faster you step, the faster you'll end up crashing into a wall or in another room. I ended up in the hallway the first time and crashing into my front door the next time I used it. There is just no way to stop this thing from rocking and rolling across the room!Another real issue with the Tony Little Rock 'n Roll Stepper **is balance. Since the stepper is on an oval underneath, you must be certain to step very carefully on it and to stay balanced. This does work the core but, if you drop your guard, you could end up on the floor and hurt. I have balance issues due to bad ears and I was able to stay on the stepper but I have been doing tons of balance exercises on a wobble board and other things so I am used to balancing on unsteady surfaces. If you're not, put a chair in front or put your hands on a wall when you first start working out with this stepper. In all, you CAN get a workout from the Tony Little Rock 'n Roll Stepper** but it travels, it squeaks, and it is very tough on the knees. I didn't get any cardio benefits but I did feel it in my legs. Unfortunately, I also felt it in my knee. I'm just not impressed with this stepper and have since gone back to my Air Climber . It's durable, stable, and doesn't send my down the street when I use it.My ViewpointSome may get a lot of benefit from the Tony Little Rock 'n Roll Stepper but I found it to be more trouble than it was worth. I thought I could put in front of the TV and step while watching. Imagine my surprise when the TV was getting further and further away as I stepped and the wall was getting closer and closer! Nah, I don't like the Tony Little Rock 'n Roll Stepper very much. It was $69.95 and really not worth it for me.*** I give it 2 stars. I don't recommend it. Lateral stepping is really hard on the knees and, having had knee surgery, I wouldn't want anyone else to end up having surgery because they were trying to get into shape. Step forward. It's easier, safer, and more stable.***Thank you for reading my 1200th review on Viewpoints. 1300, here I come!
