Amazing all-natural ingredients and flavor, but...

4

This is the first toothpaste I used with my children. I appreciate the all natural ingredients and flavors in Tom's of Maine Children's Strawberry toothpaste. My son absolutely loves the taste, even though it isn't sweet at all like other artificially-sweetened children's paste and mouthwash products. I am extremely impressed that the color of this toothpaste is an off-white... not pink or some other color contrived with unnecessary dyes. It seems like most products that boast a flavor (such as strawberry) seem compelled to produce a product with the same color as actual strawberries (bright red) and this has always disgusted me. My only complaint is that this toothpaste does nothing to freshen my child's breath. It does not in the least way mask or eliminate bad breath odors. I used it several times on my own teeth and did not experience any fresh after-taste. This is the main reason I cannot give this toothpaste a higher overall rating.

Not A Tasty Flavor

2

Even though this is a children's toothpaste, I received a sample and have therefore tried it. To start, it is kind of a dull pink flavor. I know it is not bright because it is all natural, which is good, but the color is just really unattractive. It seems like there would be a natural way to make it better. Then, the taste in my mouth was just terrible. It had a bit of a dull strawberry flavor, and then it left a strong after taste in my mouth. When I use toothpaste, I want it to leave my mouth feeling clean (ie, peppermint, spearmint, baking soda). I did not feel clean after using this toothpaste. I did finish the sample because I did not want to waste it, but I know I will not ever buy this. Considering children are likely to be picker than I am, I would not recommend this flavor. I would suggest that you stick with the normal spearmint version, as kids are likely to like that version better.

Kids love it for the taste, I love it for the ingredients!

Tom's of Maine is an incredible product in my book because the kids love it, and so do I! That combination rarely happens. The kids love the delicious strawberry flavor. A nice twist from the traditional mint flavor of most toothpastes these days. It is perfectly sweet, and because of it's lack of artificial sweeteners, it has no funky after taste, which is always a plus. I love the toothpaste because it is made with all natural ingredients. It does not have any of those dangerous artificial flavors or colors, or artificial sweeteners, preservatives, or contain any animal products. Whew. That was a mouthful. The dentist even likes it, because it also provides protection against gross cavities and tooth decay. It also provides a very nice dose of fluoride to those growing teeth. Bottom line, this is a great product that your kids can enjoy and you can feel good about giving them. It is a win win situation!

Tom's of Maine Children's Toothpaste is Okay

4

I received a sample of the Tom's of Maine Children's toothpaste a few months ago. I was anxious for my son to try it and see what he thought. What I was most excited about was that it is considered to be a more healthy option as far as toothpastes go with Tom's of Maine using less chemicals in their products. My son did not love this, though. He said that it had a bad taste to it and definitely prefers a minty type of toothpaste. I tried it as well, and I did not think that it was that bad. I know the strawberry flavor is supposed to cater to kids, but not all kids like a fruity toothpaste I guess. I would recommend the Tom's of Maine toothpaste even though my son didn't really care for it. If I could have maybe started him out on this toothpaste, then he wouldn't even know the difference and would probably love it. It may just take some getting used to, but I think it would be worth it.

Great for kids who don't like mint!

Both of my boys do not like mint flavor AT ALL, so finding a toothpaste they like has been difficult, to say the least! We have tried several different brands that claim to be a fruit flavor, only to discover that they are fruity... with a little (huge?) hint of mint. (Of course, they toughed it out and used up the tubes, but I wanted to find a toothpaste they might actually *enjoy* using and was still natural.) I noticed this Tom's of Maine Silly Strawberry flavor and decided to give it a shot one day. Success! No mint undertones in this one at all! And, my boys actually like the flavor. It's not "fake" tasting and doesn't have sugar in it, either. I also like that it is flouride-free and has very few ingredients, as well. So, my boys are happy because it tastes good, my hubby and I are happy because their breath is fresh and we don't have to deal with any grumbling or complaining when it comes time to brush teeth. Tom's of Maine Silly Strawberry toothpaste keeps our whole family smiling!

Yummy!

I have been using Tom's of Maine Silly Strawberry Toothpaste since before it bore the ADA acceptance label - and I wasn't a kid then, either! But I couldn't resist, it was the first strawberry toothpaste I'd ever seen and I just adore the flavor! I had some concerns about the formulation being inadequate for me as it is a kid's toothpaste, but it turns out that it's just as good for me! It's fairly low abrasive, I forget the RDA level but it's somewhere in the 30-40's range. As for fluoride, it contains an amount comparable to your average adult toothpaste, about 0.76% or so. This formulation does have Sodium Laurel Sulfate in its ingredients, which is generally undesirable because it interferes with the bioavailabilty of the fluoride (the whole purpose for the toothpaste!), but it's not top of the list and if you use well within the time of its expiration, the SLS shouldn't be a problem. When compared to other choices, both kids and regular toothpastes, Tom's of Maine Silly Strawberry is one of my personal faves!

This is the only toothpaste my son is willing to use.

Any toothpaste remotely minty makes my son immediately panic and spit it out. Even if a toothpaste doesn't have mint, he also won't use it if it has sorbitol; like many of the sugar alcohols, sorbitol has a cooling effect in the mouth, and my son interprets this as minty. I was thrilled when we came across Tom's of Maine Anticavity Flouride Silly Strawberry Toothpaste. We try to live as naturally as we can afford to, and we've trusted Tom's of Maine products for a long time. This toothpaste is natural and has a beautifully short list of non-scary-looking ingredients, which include neither mint nor sorbitol. Success! My son loves it. It foams up well without being excessive, and it cleans thoroughly but without being harsh on his enamel or irritating his gums. He used to have problems with stains on his teeth, but ever since he started using this Silly Strawberry from Tom's of Maine, the stains are gone. I appreciate that it's natural and simple but still has the anti-cavity protection of fluoride. So far, with Tom's of Maine Silly Strawberry fluoride toothpaste, all of our dentist appointments have been great, so it seems to be doing the job!

A great toothpaste for kids who are picky about flavor.

When we first received a sample of this toothpaste, I was skeptical. My son is very sensitive to the "burn" of most mint toothpastes. My son loved this product! This product made him want to brush his teeth way more often. I love that it is not harsh.

Tom's of Maine Silly Strawberry Toothpaste is fun, and cleans to

I love strawberries, and when i saw that Tom's of Maine were offering a free sample tube of the Children's Aniticavity Fluoride Silly Strawberry Toothpaste, I knew I had to have one. The box is plain, as with all their products, and has whole strawberries on it. The small tube I have, net weight .87 ounce (24.7g) doesn't have room for them, like the big tube. I couldn't wait to try it, and thought that it would be a bright pink color. Of course, being a Tom's product, it is free of artificial dyes, so it is 'off white'. It doesn't have a strawberry smell, but it does taste of strawberries. I loved it so much I didn't want to rinse my teeth. That's how much I love strawberries. The toothpaste works great, and I plan on buying one, and taking to my youngest grand-daughter in England. I think she will love strawberry toothpaste.

Tom's of Maine keeping chemicals & germs out of mouths of babes

I like the idea of natural products, and I like the idea of a really good deal. It's even better when they both come together like when I picked up a tube of Tom's of Maine Silly Strawberry Fluoride toothpaste for the little ones. I like to be able to find ways to encourage the children to brush as much as possible (especially on nights like tonight when candy abounds.) That's easier to do when the toothpaste they are using tastes good and is effective. I like the idea of natural products, and I like the idea of a really good deal. Most times I end up using whatever the dentist gives us for the kids, but with three of them now those go faster than before. As far as I can tell Tom's of Maine gets their teeth clean as any other toothpaste we've used. In addition to it working, the children love the taste of it. The very first time they used it I got great comments on how good it tasted. The Silly Strawberry toothpaste contains natural ingredients which I can actually read on the label. It still has fluoride in it so we need to make sure the children do not swallow much of it. I usually put just a smear on the brush giving them enough to clean those 20 or so little chompers. Considering how much we use, this tube should last for quite a long time making it a good value.
