Years ago my son bought a GPS unit for hunting.  I thought it was a good idea if he ever got lost in the woods but for some reason it never dawned on me that a GPS unit would also help geographical challenged me!  Getting places without getting lost is not one of my talents.  Maybe that is why I have... review »

I purchased the TomTom One 3rd Edition over Thanksgiving. Turns out their database is not up to date and they aren't even aware of it! I have sync'd to the latest maps available on the website, yet often Tom Tom has led me through paths that don't make any sense and are miles away from the actual destination.... review »

My wife got me the tom tom one as a late Christmas gift. I've been comparing gps navigation for awhile. I love my tom tom one. it gets me anywhere, as long as the maps are updated regularly. I find it very precise in navigating. I only got it a week ago and am finding out that it does much more than I expected. It even has a battery saver where the screen shuts off and turns back on when a POI or navigation is required. If the maps where updated, I'd be very delighted. The street I live on has been here for at least three years, but the tom tom doesn'T recognize it. I have to use the next street... review »

I absolutely love my GPS! I've found it often saves me time by showing me a route to my destination I was not aware of. If I'm in a city and need to get to another city I'm not too familair with, instead of driving toward home to go the way I know, it just takes me down roads, around corners, before you know it-there I am.

I'm not late for my appointments anymore, I can choose a different route if I like, the traffic & weather report is right there. I can still use my radar detector because if it's charged(which doesn't take long) I don't have to plug it in the cigarette lighter or even...

I finally talked my wife into getting a GPS unit. It had to be reliable, affordable and sync with both Mac and PC. The Tom Tom One fit perfectlly.

At around $149, it's one of the cheapest GPS units available, which also makes it the best selling. It's great for folks who really don't need all the fancy bells and whistles of the more expensive models. The size is great too, becaise it fit perfectly into a small digital camera case I had already.

There are a number of free add-ons you can download via the app you install to your computer. I am a big Star Wars nut, so I have Darth Vader, C-3PO and...

I purchased my Tom Tom One GPS over a year ago and use it faithfully. This unit has saved me time and travel, over and over again. I have used it on short trips that are just a few miles away, to long trips over 1000 miles and have gotten great directions every time. We love changing the voices to make the trips more interesting, my fav has got to be Austin Powers, Groovy Baby. You can update the maps and routes on-line with the software included in the box by hooking up to your computer. I love that it gives you locations of gas stations, emergency stations, hospitals, food establishments...

Just make sure you do the update on the internet.  I had one problem with it when it told me to turn onto a road that wasn't there.  It had to be updated on the internet.

The TomTom ONE is what I could characterize as a slim and pocketable GPS. It comes with a standard 3.5 inch display which can show 64,000 colors. The display itself is quite nice; the colors do not shift much until you look at it from extremely wide viewing angles and it is plenty bright so that it will not wash out too much in direct sunlight. While the display does not automatically switch from day to night node, you can manually set night mode in three clicks. The night and day modes also have their own brightness controls so you can set it very bright during the day and very dark at night....

I purchased the Tom Tom ONe because I needed a GPS system as I am always getting lost and after browsing for about a week it seemed the most user friendly. The first few months I had the Tom Tom , I was absolutely in love with it. I never left home without it. It turned out to be very easy to use, the touch screen system worked nicely and it was also very easy to customize it. I found it to be my best map friend. I updated it by computer twice weekly and also never got lost. A few months ago the problems started happening. Now, they are only minor problems, but the problems that occured reminded...

I have two TOTOM ONE's; one 2nd generation and one 3rd generation.

I bought my first TOMTOM ONE for about 250 USD and it was the best I had bought in years. It has saved us a lot of time and agony. Before we had the TOTOM we used road and city maps and we quite often got lost, especially in the cities. Since we have the TOMTOM we do not get lost anymore which has contributed to a better relationship between me and my wife.

Before I bought my 2nd generation TOTOM One, I compared the devices that were on the market in the same price range from Magellan and Garmin. Our choice was based upon the...

Tom Tom One 130

All GPS units map your travel to a distination. This unit tells you when to turn or keep right/left on the freeway. On the freeway it shows the exit number you'll need to take, your estimated time of arrival, travel time, and distance to go. You can choose several voices and languages. If you prefer to travel slower routes, say under 25MPH for any reason, you can do so. It does not have text to voice so does not speak the street name, just "turn left" or "turn right". The dash mount works great and the unit can easily slip into your pocket so you can nav on the go.

The tomtom...

The TomTom One is a good device for its price tag.

I have found the device to be reliable.  It doesn't lock up or reboot itself like I have seen with some other devices.

It is reasonably quick in finding a satellite signal; it's screen is bright and easy to see; the menu system is easy to navigate; the letter buttons are decent in size which makes entering an address fairly easy (although they could be bigger and better).  I also really like the MPH indicator.  If you use a lot of rental cars, you will find that the variance of MPH on vehicles varies up to 6 or 7  MPH.  This can cause...

I was given my Tom Tom One GPS over a year ago and I use it ALL THE TIME! This unit has saved me time and miles spent on the road. When I first opened it, I thought, Oh no, how am I ever going to use this thing? I cannot read a map to save my life and have NO sense of direction! I actually wanted to return it. This was not a gift I had asked for!

Right from the start it was very easy to use. You don't need to know how to read a map, you don't need to know what direction you are going (nort or east), you jsut need to listen to the GPS person tell you what to do!

I have used it on short trips...

Oh what a wonderful little piece of heaven!!! We won this great little item in a raffle at our local grocery store and just in time. I took a trip to San Antonio, Texas earlier this month and was able to drive right to where I needed to go from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the AFB. Even was able to find a local Walmart when I hadn't packed everything I needed. When I got home I downloaded the Dunkin Donuts finder on it. So whenever there is a Dunkin Donuts in the area a little pink and orange DD shows up on the map. I'm addicted.... My sons and I just returned from our trip to...
