I purchased the Tom Tom ONe because I needed a GPS system as I am always getting lost and after browsing for about a week it seemed the most user friendly. The first few months I had the Tom Tom , I was absolutely in love with it. I never left home without it. It turned out to be very easy to use, the touch screen system worked nicely and it was also very easy to customize it. I found it to be my best map friend. I updated it by computer twice weekly and also never got lost. A few months ago the problems started happening. Now, they are only minor problems, but the problems that occured reminded me of Map Quest. Randomly the GPS system would be lost. When I turned the Tom Tom on, I would put in my destination, and it would calculate and start me on a route from the place I was coming home from the night before. Then the GPS signal would be lost again. I have to turn it off and then back on again, wait a few minutes and re-type my destination, then turn around because it initially brought me the wrong way. I live in MA and frequently go to Boston (one of the worst road construction, one way, wrong way etc.. city in the U.S) The Tom Tom is not updated on one area of the North End by about three years. I needed to turn around and go to a federal building as I missed my turn. I initially the Tom TOm brought me the correct way, it then had me take a sharp left instead of bear left , I wound up on a 15 minute highway ride in a tunnell with no signal. I finally got out of the tunnel, was directed by the Tom Tom to turn around, it brought me back to the same area and tried again to bring me back in the tunnell, I beared left and the TOm Tom brought me almost where I needed to be. I tried to upgrade the construction/new highway exit into the Tom Tom website and it is not user friendly to do that. I am pretty savvy with computers, not a whiz but good, and still have onl found the website useful for maps, noises and voices. I have divorced my Tom Tom and am currently looking for a new one.
I give my rating of the TOm tom a 60-good 40- bad. The good out weighs the bad, but I was lost one too many times with this navigation system.
