The TomTom One is a good device for its price tag.
I have found the device to be reliable. It doesn't lock up or reboot itself like I have seen with some other devices.
It is reasonably quick in finding a satellite signal; it's screen is bright and easy to see; the menu system is easy to navigate; the letter buttons are decent in size which makes entering an address fairly easy (although they could be bigger and better). I also really like the MPH indicator. If you use a lot of rental cars, you will find that the variance of MPH on vehicles varies up to 6 or 7 MPH. This can cause you to go under the speed limit as the car may say you are going 65, but in reality you may only be going 61. This device, helps you detect that and drive the actual speed limit. Many GPS devices have this feature, but not all.
On the downside, I find that the device is a little slow in telling me when to turn, that it is easy to pass a turn thinking that it is the "next" turn. It is somewhat hard to tell on the device. The street name to turn on does not always appear for some reason, so you are just going off of a blue arrow and it isn't always 100% in synch with how close you are to an intersection.
I also find the control for turning up/down the volume on this device kind of strange. A more distinct indicator of volume controls would be nice.
The device has no Bluetooth integration for hands-free speaker or real time traffic updates like its more expensive brothers.
But if you are looking for an inexpensive, basic navigator, this is a good choice.
