TomTom-GO 510 GPS is great.  It's easy to understand and use.  I would recommend all women puchasing it if you have trouble with driving directions. Directions and display are clear and understandable.  Doesn't need a computer geek to program and explain it.  It occasionally loses a turn if you're traveling on rural back roads but I have only had that happen once or twice in a year.

    On a recent trip to LA, my sister let me use her TomTom GPS receiver while driving around the unfamiliar city.    It was a great experience and really made my entire trip much more relaxing.  When I would type in my destination, the system would quickly guess where I wanted to go before I even finished writing, and could set up a route in moments.  The search feature is also great when you are hungry and want a restaurant nearby, are a tourist and would like suggestions, or simply someone who can't remember the address of that event hall they're supposed to be at right now.      It gave very precise vocal instructions, even within feet of turns or other important points. Also the volume on the device can go up to an obscene maximum which could be good for those that like to play tunes while driving. Without reading any directions I understood how to use it well within 15 minutes and a less tech-savvy person would probably understand it perfectly in under 30.     The only real drawback I can think of is that when I would make a wrong turn (sometimes voluntarily) it would take a little while to reroute.  It wasn't unreasonably slow, but could have cost me if the next turn had come up before the directions did.    If this product was really ambitious, it would combine the TomTom GPS navigation with TomTom Traffice so that a route would be created using the most accessible roads at that time of day.    Otherwise it is a great product -considering its price- and everyday family travelers should be perfectly content with its performance.

This GPS is quite handy; it has been very accurate with directions for me. It finds satellites and builds directions quickly.  Re-routes happen pretty quickly too.  I like the integration with blue tooth phones that allows you to use the unit as a hands-free speakerphone.  It can also control your iPod which is nifty.  It is not as small as the TomTom ONE so I would say it is not as portable as the newer models, but if you can pick up one used and don't mind the size you will most likely have got a good bargain.

I bought the Tom Tom GPS Receiver a while ago, while I do not live in a bigger city I still have been able to use it several times traveling. I do not use this to navigate everyday traffic, living in a town of about 50,000 it really isn't neccesary. But I do travel quite a bit and this has come in handy several times. The directions are very clear and I like the 2D view of the map while traveling. It allows me to see more clearly my location on a road map than a tilted view of the streets. It really is very handy to be able to plug in a location and receive directions on the spot instead of having to carry around a sheet of paper with those directions. One thing that I don't really like is that if your destination has several routes to take and the one you are taking is not the one Tom Tom would suggest it can be a little annoying. I don't know if I'm just bad with rerouting the Tom Tom but it just kept blinking and telling me to turn back. But overall a very easy to use handy piece of equipment.

The TOM TOM 510 is a great devise.There is one down side to it. The power, plugs into the window mount. When you hit a bump or something the devise becomes lose. After a while the Tom Tom loses it conection. So the devise will not charge all the time .There are a lot of pros to the devise.The maps can be updated for free at any time.You can change the vioce on it. You can even update the P.O.I. Over hundrens of them. Tom Tom comes with a disk so you can load it on to you laptop or home computer. TheTom Tom comes with everything you need to get started. From the car charger to the memery card. Even a storge case,so you don't have to worry about scratching the face. It has bluetooth technologe. You can hook you phone up too it. It also come with a mic that you can clip to your visor.That way you can be hands-free. My favorite thing about the 510 is that it has a "buddy system". The "buddy system" works with the Internet. Lets say you have a friend that has a Tom Tom and s/he has a new P.O.I  that you want/need. You can conect from you Tom Tom to there "buddy" TomTom,With out a computer. You  can even e-mail though the"Buddy system". It can get the weather report, traffic cams and you can even download a book that Tom Tom can read to you when you are driving down the road. You have to pay for those items .         The Tom Tom 510 is a good  devise, you just have to be careful with the window mount.

***Great product that initially helped us to navigate England, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Luxembourg, & France in our final months' vacation in a rental RV with the Tom-Tom in the deal before leaving England for the USA.*** ***No glitches whatsoever, except when she (l call it a she because l use the English speaking lady with an English accent to guide us) tried to take a 11ft tall RV under a 10ft tall underpass in the center of Paris!*** ***lf you have the correct address, it'll take you anywhere, & in France we were able to locate a campsite in the middle of nowhere, up a country lane, in the woods by a lake!*** ***Over here we have used it to take us to local addresses in the City, or coastal locations on our RV trips through California, Oregon & Washington State.It took us through the nightmare of Portland City center with ease, & found us a fruit picking location we visited on an island off the Northern Oregon area within the Columbia River!*** ***To me, as a traveller, this unit is indespensable, & in today's ever decreasing price-war market, they are well worth the money!*** ****

 I love mine, would not leave with out it . every one needs to have one.The only thing I do not like is that it comes with only one dash mount , and I need to because I have to cars I use. I also leave it out in the cold and it dose not do ant dameges to it. I love how you can change the voice from a man's to a woman's. Some times I speed not paying  attenion to what I was doing and because it sit's up higher on the dash I can see it better. I love how it show's you that you can take different ways, or if you miss you'r turn it all ways take you to the next place to turn.

Well it did a good job of describing when and where to turn, however, it stopped working!  Won't stay charged.  Also in  a large city it doesn't work well, we travel faster then it can compute, even in high traffic down town chicago!

My husband gave me the TomTom Go for a birthday gift this year. I am a Realtor in Wisconsin and many of the homes I have to show are out in the country and sometimes I ge lost and it really makes it hard to stay on schedual. The TomTom Go has really madea difference, it gets me to the property and even tells me when to turn around if I have gone past it. I am amazed everytime I use it, it gives me advance warning of an upcoming turn and I can see curves in the road right on the screen. Once in a while its wrong but still helps me get to the general area. TomTom Go has saved me time and money every time I go on showings. I don't know why I didn't get one sooner. Love it!

Tom Tom has helped get us to our destination so I can't complain...much...I just rebel against the idea that maps are ineffectual, and these devices can still make mistakes.  Good quality for the type of GPS.
