Sometimes my husband just really hits it out of the park, and buying me this lip balm was a home run in terms of great gifts.  I only wish TokyoMilk Sweet Cream Bon Bon Lip Balm itself would have hit a home run instead of making it only to first base.

So about 2 months ago my husband was in Baltimore on business and found a cute little town full of antique shops, boutiques, and foofy places like that.  Well bless his heart, he actually went into one of those stores and emerged with a wee giftie for his wife.

I tell you I was THRILLED when he presented me with the gift bag containing an adorable little box with glittery cupcakes all over it.  Inside was a small glass pot of TokyoMilk Sweet Cream Bon Bon Lip Balm.  He remembered that I love sweet cream and especially love lip balm. And he got me the matching candle too!  Squeal!

And that's pretty much where the fun ended.  This lip balm is just not good.  I'd actually prefer ChapStick.

First off, it's in a pot.  I don't like balms in a pot because I don't like sticking my finger in there.

Next, it's kind of hard.  I had to rub my finger over the top of the balm repeatedly to get any on my finger and then onto my lips.

Finally, it just doesn't smell or taste good at all and was $12.  I expected something truly divine and delicious. It smells slightly sweet but tastes like nothing much at all.  In fact it has a slightly floral, chemical taste to it that is rather unpleasant.

TokyoMilk is loaded with good things for the lips, like shea butter and vitamins, so it does keep my lips in good shape and not feeling chappy or anything, so there is some benefit.  But one could get the same benefits from a $1 tube of pretty much any other lip balm.

Bottom Line - While I LOVE the thought that came along with a gift of high end lip balm from my husband, I don't love the product itself.  I love the box, just not the balm.  Not recommended.

I know you like your beauty products, sorry this one didn't live up to it. But it was sweet that your hubby was thinking of you. It's always nice when that happens. Nice review.
