The Toddy really makes the best coffee that I've ever had. It's a cold-press system that is really different. You grind your beans (or use canned coffee if you must) and put them with some water in the container with cold water. After 10 hours or so, you drain the coffee into the glass jug. This is your coffee concentrate. You add a little to some hot water for the greatest cup of coffee every time ! You can make it stronger or weaker depending on how much concentrate that you put in your cup.
The system is fairly cheap (about $25) I have a bunch of other coffee makers but this beats them all. (My husband tries to block my way at any store that has coffee makers if that's any indication of how much I love my coffee and makers) You do use a pound of coffee in each batch but it lasts awhile. It only lasts me about a week but I like really strong coffee. My mother in law likes weak coffee and it lasts her for weeks.
The concentrate can be frozen and taken with you. Especially useful for travelling when you can't find a decent cup of coffee. We were at a hotel once and there was no coffee shop or anything close. A little concentrate in some hot tap water was pretty good and got us moving.
